Job Title: Laser Cutting & Fabricating Operative
Salary: 17.02 ph
Location: Shrewsbury

Important information:
Four days/nights a week work shift - Monday to Thursday
2 positions available (1x days and 1x nights)
Undertake at least 2 weeks (to a month) training at Stockton On Tees (expenses covered)

Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen within Caterpillar Shrewsbury for a permanent Laser Cutting & Fabricating Operative reporting to the Machining department Team Leaders. There are a variety of duties encompassed within this role including; loading/ unloading using fork lift setting cutting and brake press operations. You will need to have experience of CNC laser setting and cutting operations. Also the use of measuring equipment including vernier callipers and micrometers. Understand the importance of quality products and Safety. This role will provide key support in our drive to develop 1st Cutting Ops and technology generating cost saving benefits.
Key responsibilities include:
Conform to all Health Safety and Environmental Procedures.
Operate and set CNC Laser machines
Operate Fork Lift to load and unload
Inspect own work including visual of 1st off inspection
Use of measuring equipment; Micrometres/Vernier calipers.
Backing up of CNC programmes.
Responsible for training new operators.
Working with other areas to develop improvements and savings.
Carrying out operator performed maintenance and 5S activity as required.
Key Skills and Attributes:
Essential
Previous experience in CNC Laser operations and programming.
Willingness to work night shift if required
Self-motivated and team player.
Ability to prioritise workload to meet changing needs within the team
High standards and attention to detail
Ability to use own initiative and to work unsupervised.
Willingness and enthusiasm to succeed.
Safe working standards in line with procedures.
Be able to undertake at least 2 weeks training at Stockton On Tees (expenses covered)
Desirable
Fork Lift experience
Previous experience of Brake Press operations
Experience of Assembly Plant operations .
