Human Resources Assistant Summer Job Role Kelowna
Job Summary
The YMCA of Southern Interior BC (SIBC) is a charitable association dedicated to building strong kids strong families and strong communities. Y programs provide experiences to over 30000 individuals annually in the areas of health fitness & recreation childcare day camping employment and community health. With a current annual operating budget of $30 million the association employs over 600 full and part time staff and has over 160 volunteers.
This role will have significant impact and provide support to the YMCA as a not-for-profit community-based organization.

- Research best practices in volunteer recruitment engagement onboarding recognition and retention to support long-term volunteer involvement.
- Analyze volunteer feedback and participation data and prepare summaries and reports to inform People & Culture strategies and program improvements.
- Support the development of volunteer engagement recognition and appreciation initiatives that enhance meaningful participation and inclusivity.
- Review update and improve volunteer job descriptions to ensure clarity accessibility and inclusive language.
- Assist with the creation and revision of volunteer onboarding and orientation materials to ensure a welcoming and consistent experience.
- Collaborate with People & Culture staff and program teams to align volunteer engagement efforts with organizational policies and operational needs.
- Apply diversity equity and inclusion principles (JAIDE) across all volunteer-related processes materials and recommendations.
- Use Microsoft Office and digital HR tools to create documents track information and support data management and reporting activities.

- Currently enrolled in or recently completed postâsecondary education in Human Resources Social Sciences Business Administration or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Interest in human resources volunteer engagement community development or peopleâcentred work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear inclusive documents and summaries.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff volunteers and stakeholders in a teamâbased environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities.

Schedule Details:
- This is a 9-week term role part of the Canada Summer Job Program
- 30 hours per week
