Job Summary
Role Purpose:
To provide accurate cost estimation for MEP equipment and on-site installation activities from an owners perspective. This role supports procurement decisions budget control and value engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed cost estimates for direct supply items (transformers UPS switchgear chillers cooling towers etc.) including equipment freight taxes and delivery.
- For Installation Costing: Estimate on-site labor rates subcontractor expenses productivity factors and installation efficiency for data centre fit-out.
- Benchmark costs against industry standards historical data and market intelligence.
- Support value engineering exercises by comparing alternative designs/materials.
- Work with procurement to validate supplier quotations and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare cost breakdowns for management approval and board presentations.
- Track actual vs estimated costs and provide variance analysis.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Construction Management.
- 5 years in MEP costing or installation costing for data centres industrial plants or large-scale infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of data centre MEP systems (electrical cooling fire protection BMS).
- Proficiency in cost estimation software and Excel.
- Understanding of local labor rates and subcontracting practices in Malaysia/SEA
