OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

Responsible for assisting patients with frame selection eyeglass orders verification fitting and dispensing of eyewear.

Must adhere to the organizational Policies Procedures Code of Ethics and all licensing and accreditation standards of the position. Must represent the organizations Mission in all actions and communications

This is a full time benefit eligible position typically working 7:45am-5pm Monday - Friday with late night until 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist patients in appropriate frame selection.
  • Verify patient information.
  • Evaluate patients for eligible discounts and special funds.
  • Verify insurance eligibility.
  • Evaluate new Rx and properly set patient expectations.
  • Determine optimal lens material & style.
  • Take accurate measurements for lens style.
  • Supply patients with transparent pricing.
  • Enter patient orders for glasses and contact lenses.
  • Submit orders to appropriate insurance websites.
  • Accurately take payments.
  • Make patient aware of typical order delivery time.
  • Verify glasses using lensometer.
  • Document glasses orders arrivals and dispenses.
  • Notify patient of glasses arrival.
  • Perform eyeglass adjustment and repairs.
  • Assure patient education regarding usage and cleaning of glasses.
  • Teach patients contact lens insertion and removal.
  • Notify management of any patient complaints.
  • Work with Optician II or III to trouble-shoot patient complaints.
  • Frame board management.
  • Assist with inventory.
  • Understand and adhere to CHs compliance standards as they appear in CHs Corporate Compliance Policy Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keep abreast of all pertinent federal state and CHs regulations laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SCHOOL-LINKED PROGRAMS:

  • Travel to and from schools.
  • Set up and tear down school clinic.
  • Assist with scheduling and/or check-in for students.
  • Maintain accurate electronic health records.
  • Assist with phone calls to classrooms and/or escort children.
  • Maintain professional interaction with all school staff.
  • Call parents as needed to set up follow-up appointments and/or explain ocular conditions.

EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATES:

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • CPR certification (offered at CH) is required.

EXPERIENCE:
Ophthalmic and/or sales experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above. Must enroll in Optician training program within 6 months of start and complete within one year of enrollment (paid by Cherry Health).
