LBYD was founded in 1973 with the incorporation of E. Glenn Bishop & 1978 with the merger of the structural engineering firm Lane & Hodnett Structural Engineers the firm became Lane/Bishop/Hodnett 1987 the firm became LaneBishopYorkDelahay Inc. which is known today as LBYD 2001 LBYD began offering civil engineering services. With the addition of the civil department and the continued commitment of our structural department LBYD has experienced growth at a phenomenal rate. We continue to pursue growth opportunities evidenced by opening more branch offices throughout the Southeast region.
POSITION PURPOSE:
Leads manages plans and coordinates project activities to ensure that goals and objectives of
projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Provides and
maintains project technical direction quality schedule client relations financials records and
reports for use in overall company management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team Leadership:
Lead direct and coordinate the project delivery team including designers reviewers
administrators and subconsultants.
Coordinate supporting actions from shared services functions (e.g. contracting
accounting legal human resources project excellence & delivery)
Meet ethical standards for Professional Engineer or Architecture licensure.
Communications:
Lead and facilitate project delivery team meetings and client / stakeholder coordination
meetings where required.
Provide clear and concise updates with issues and proposed solutions to the client on a
regular basis.
Distribute provide direction and follow up as needed on client communications RFI
responses review comments scope updates schedule updates and related items with
the design team.
Client Relations:
Develop trusted partner relationships with clients that result in follow-on work.
Maintain regular contact with clients to obtain feedback and assess overall satisfaction.
Coordinate with clients to receive specific feedback and make any adjustments necessary
to obtain superior client ratings at the midpoint and/or the end of the project (e.g. CPARs
PPQs).
Assist clients in preparing scopes of services for project requirements.
Contract Management:
Understand all parts of the contract as well as flow-down requirements from other
governing contracts (IDIQ MACC MATOC SATOC etc.).
Ensure any assumptions or exclusions are contained in the final contract.
Facilitate contract signatures final execution NTP and closeout.
Ensure the project delivery team understand the scope of work and their role in the project
team. Define limits and roles between disciplines.
Ensure project design complies with and stays within contracted scope of work. Avoid
scope creep be vigilant of changes obtain contract modifications and minimize work at
risk.
Prepare and execute subcontracts (teaming agreements POs etc.) for subcontractors.
Production Management:
Oversee production of design deliverables.
Coordinate project data downloads and uploads with the client.
Interface with the client to obtain project information required by the design team (RFIs
clarifications review comments comment responses)
Oversee construction phase services as required by the project scope of work. Delegate
questions RFIs revisions to appropriate team member as needed.
Maintain project risk register and issue list.
Schedule Management:
Prepare project design schedule in compliance with the contract requirements.
Review and update the baseline schedule on a regular basis. Update the project team on
changes and upcoming deadlines.
Notify the client of schedule impacts obstacles and delays and propose solutions.
Cost Management:
Establish and update the project budget and forecast to completion.
Review budget regularly and work with the internal team to stay within budget.
Maintain current invoicing accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) and
accruals with clients and subconsultants.
Establish invoicing schedule with clients with preference to monthly invoicing (vs.
milestone invoicing). Invoice clients at the earliest possible time.
Ensure that design stays within the clients expected construction budget. If over budget
provide the client options to reduce costs and/or de-scope the project.
Quality Control:
Coordinate and ensure compliance with the quality control program.
Implement and oversee quality control actions to include data quality review peer review
independent technical review compliance review and management review.
Perform management review of design deliverables developed by project team including
subconsultants for technical sufficiency completeness accuracy and contract
compliance prior to submission to the client.
Implement use of quality control checklists on each project.
Prepare and execute quality control signature sheet capturing all disciplines.
Business Development:
Coordinate with business development team to update the pipeline and support capture
and proposal efforts for new work.
Build client network to perform periodic outreach to prospective clients.
Manage client programs to foster relationships as their trusted technical expertise.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Engineering Architecture or related field
Professional Engineer Registration (P.E.) or Registered Architect (RA).
11-15 years project management experience
Minimum 5 years of design experience
Ability to manage multiple large size complex single or multi-disciplinary projects
independently.

opportunities.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be required to travel periodically to project meetings and construction sites. Typically
day trips or overnight trips however occasionally longer trips are necessary.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
PMP Certification considered a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
