The Cylinder Operator I will through hands-on effort and/or with the aid of material handling equipment move industrial gas cylinders to different areas of the plant and loads/unloads cylinders from delivery trucks.

  • Safely operate forklift hand-truck pallet-jack chain hoist etc. to load/unload compressed industrial gas liquid cylinders to and from delivery trucks to filling and storage areas.

  • May load cylinders onto vehicles through hands-on effort or with the aid of material handling equipment.

  • Transfer plant cylinders to different areas within the facility using a forklift.

  • Performs cylinder maintenance such as valving de-valving and shot blasting.

  • Perform cylinder cleaning painting and maintenance as needed.

  • Identify and sort cylinders for efficient refilling and handling.

  • Notify foreman or manager if normal truck loading duties cannot be fulfilled for any reason.

  • Replace pallet straps as necessary.

  • Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.

  • Attend safety meetings.

  • Complete load sheets with attention to detail and distribute to drivers at the end of shift.

  • Maintain a clean safe and orderly plant appearance.

  • Report any equipment or facility defect(s) to foreman or manager.

  • Comply with all Airgas safety rules and company policies.

  • Contribute to a safe environment by promptly reporting any accident or injury.

  • Wear proper PPE in work area at all time.

Are you a MATCH

Required Qualifications:

  • Prior forklift operating experience is necessary certification preferred.

  • Able to perform heavy physical work - routinely pushing pulling more than 125 lbs with prolonged standing.

  • Must be able to work occasional overtime to meet operational deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in industrial operations is a plus.

  • Previous experience in plant operations industrial maintenance or a related field is preferred.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.

  • Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

  • Flexibility to work shifts and overtime as needed.

  • Must be punctual and comply with shift schedule.

The hourly base pay range for this position in Hawaii is $28.56/hr. Please note that the hourly base pay information is a general guideline only. Airgas considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position candidates work experience education/ training key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
