Level 3 IT Solutions Technician Apprenticeship Taverham High School (Part of Enrich Learning Trust)
To help maintain the network provision to the whole trust with a focus on delivering on-premise support at across Taverham High School. You will be required to ensure access to internet connections and to the schools network are always available. To maintain the security of the network monitor access against improper use and ensure measures are in place for the regular backup of data. To support staff and student users in using IT equipment and to respond to IT helpdesk requests. This may involve operating on-site or remotely at other schools within Enrich Learning Trust.
Apprenticeship Summary:
- Salary: 15392 a year (based on 8 per hour)
Working Week: Monday to Thursday 8am 4pm Friday 8am 3:30pm (30-minute unpaid break daily)
Hours: 37 hours per week

Level 3 IT Solutions Technician Apprenticeship
Location: Taverham High School Beach Avenue Norwich Taverham NR8 6HP
The Role:
As an IT Technician you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting IT systems across Taverham High School ensuring smooth network connectivity troubleshooting issues and assisting with hardware and software setups. You will also contribute to cybersecurity measures user management and IT projects helping to create a secure and efficient digital learning environment.
Main Duties:
Maintenance and Support of Trust IT Network
- Work independently to troubleshoot and resolve incidents and service requests raised on the central ticketing system and escalate to on-premise engineers and IT Managers as required and according to service level targets and in accordance with Trust operational guidelines.
- Installation of hardware and software on workstations.
- Maintain and contribute towards a knowledge base.
- As part of the the IT Support team in ensuring that the network hardware software and peripherals are running smoothly with access levels applications and desktop setups appropriate for different users
- Maintain online services that extend the school network such as Microsoft 365 and MIS etc..
- Setting up new users onto the network and online services.
- Remove users from these systems when they have left the school
- Setting up checking and packing away sets of iPads laptops etc. when booked. Highlight any issues so that these can be addressed.
- To function as an escalation point for tickets requiring local on-premise involvement to resolve.
- Offer support to other team members to help them troubleshoot and resolve
incidents and service requests. - Proactively inform stakeholders of changes issues and resolution times.
- Perform tasks set out by the Digital Lead.
- Maintenance of Hardware
- Setting up new equipment
- Assisting staff and pupils with software and hardware
- Routine maintenance of hardware and software including replacing printer consumables and fixing paper jams and cleaning projector filters
- Minor repairs to hardware
- Security of Network
- Security marking and keeping an inventory of equipment.
- As part of the IT Support team maintain networking infrastructure including all wi-fi switches servers and associated devices.
- Identify and inform areas that will improve school IT security.
- Project Implementation
- Provide on-the-ground technical support for implementing project activities
- Contribute to the project goals and objectives
- Complete individual project tasks within the expected time frame
- Collaborate with other team members
- Communicate with the IT manager about roadblocks
- Audio Visual
- To set up audio/visual equipment as required by teaching staff and to take appropriate action with regard to wiping off material.
- To closely monitor use of audio/visual materials and equipment and reclaim after use. To ensure that all resources are secure at all times when not in use.
- To demonstrate the use of audio/visual and other resources and to assist students and staff in accessing the information required.
- To set up audio/visual equipment for assemblies working with the relevant staff
and students for each event. - Film and/or broadcast events (staff training in-house school productions PE exams for example) and edit the videos to requirements.
- To assist with maintaining and erecting staging sound and AV equipment as and when required.
- To liaise with outside suppliers in the hiring and potential purchases of audio/visual equipment for events and future projects.
- To work with departments preparing examination material to be sent to exam boards.
- To be responsible for the production of audio/visual material for both internal and external uses for the promotion of/use by the school.
- Help the Trust and academies achieve compliance with the Data Protection Act RPA and GDPR.
- Ensure that Copyright Licensing Authority guidelines are adhered to as advised by the IT Management Team.
- Assist staff on correct network procedures and use of new software
- Assist where necessary with the IT provision across Enrich Learning Trust
- To attend on up to five agreed and specific evening events to provide technical support. E.g. parents evenings
- Advise staff and students on how to be Cyber Safe in accordance with NCSC or DFE guidelines.
- To have due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and to follow the child protection procedures adopted by the Trust and the local authority.
- To maintain staff and pupil confidentiality
- To undertake training as appropriate
- To participate in the performance management programme
- To undertake other responsibilities within the overall purpose and scope of the post
- Assist in cyber incident response.
The Candidate:
Qualifications Qualities & Experience
- Good general level of education with 5 GCSE (Grade 5/C or above) and above (including Maths English and IT/Computing)
- Level 3/ A Level in IT User Skills Digital Technologies Computer Science Network Support or similar
- ICT literate with good keyboard skills
- Evidence of recent continuing professional development
- Skills and Experience Knowledge of networking systems and equipment Knowledge of Active Directory and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Use of Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
- Use of Microsoft 365 email and online services
- Experience in installing and upgrading software
- Experience in maintaining building and/or upgrading PC hardware
- Experience working in an educational environment in a multi-academy Trust or large academy.
- Record of good time management skills and ability to prioritise work effectively. Work constructively as part of a team understanding school roles and responsibilities and your own position within these.
- Ability to relate well to students and adults including external contacts.
- Ability to meet targets and deadlines by prioritising a workload to manage a variety of activities concurrently.
- Flexibility to work some evenings where required. e.g. parents evenings school performances etc.
- Hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

As an apprentice you will receive support through both on-the-job learning and formal training as part of your apprenticeship programme. This will typically include:
