Job Title: Database Architect

Location: Lansing MI or Farmington MI (hybrid)

Duration: 6 Month Contract-to-Hire

W2 Only

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Database Architect to lead the design development and strategic direction of enterprise database technologies. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in database architecture performance optimization high availability and multi-platform database environments.

Must Have Skills:

• Strong database architecture/design experience in Oracle or SQL Server

• Also open to experience with PostgreSQL MariaDB MySQL Snowflake or MongoDB

• 7 years of database administration/architecture experience

• Experience leading technical initiatives in enterprise database environments

• Strong performance tuning availability scalability and maintainability expertise

Primary Responsibilities:

• Evaluate recommend and document database solutions for performance flexibility and high availability

• Design and maintain best practices and standards for enterprise database technologies

• Support internal and external users on database-related technical issues

• Manage vendor relationships for database software and services

• Evaluate emerging technologies and define future roadmap / buy-vs-build strategies

• Mentor DBA teams and technical leads

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance issues

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science IT or related field (or equivalent experience)

• Experience with 3 or more of the following:

  • Oracle

  • Microsoft SQL Server

  • PostgreSQL

  • MariaDB

  • MySQL

  • Snowflake

  • MongoDB

• Experience with automated database maintenance processes

• Windows Server and/or Unix/Linux environments

• Backup & recovery tools and disaster recovery concepts

• High availability and replication solutions

• Cloud database technologies

• ETL / ELT tools and data integration technologies

• Ability to work independently and across multiple teams

Preferred Skills:

• Leadership and mentoring experience

• Strong communication and documentation skills

• Strategic thinking and problem-solving mindset
