Job Summary

Salary/Position Classification

  • 44000 annual Exempt
  • 40 hours per week
  • This position will work onsite the Grand Forks ND campus.

Purpose of Position

The purpose of the position is to provide assistance to incoming transfer readmitted and non-degree students at the University of North Dakota. This position will work with retention and recruitment of these students. They will provide accurate information on all needs relating to course registration next steps needed and additional information based on each program. This position will work closely with college transfer advising process (CTA) and the Transfer Student Coordinator on all needs for transfer students. This position helps process transfer equivalencies during the peak periods of the three academic semesters at the University of North Dakota.

Duties & Responsibilities

College Transfer Advising & Coordination

  • Process transfer evaluations and communicate with incoming transfer students during peak periods
  • Determine course equivalencies and coordinate with academic departments
  • Provide estimated time-to-completion for transfer students
  • Maintain and update transfer equivalencies (TES) in collaboration with advising leadership
  • Support training and drive continuous improvement of transfer processes and student experience

Non-Degree & Readmitted Student Support

  • Advise non-degree seeking students on prerequisites policies and procedures
  • Manage prerequisite evaluation requests and coordinate outcomes with departments
  • Communicate course options and requirements including SPEA equivalents
  • Support readmitted students through re-entry providing guidance resources and proactive communication to promote retention and completion

Advising Knowledge & Tools

  • Interpret and communicate institutional policies procedures and deadlines
  • Utilize advising systems (e.g. Campus Connection Civitas Blackboard Handshake)
  • Connect students with financial aid basics career exploration tools and campus resources

Professional Engagement

  • Participate in student-centered events and ongoing professional development opportunities

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively across multiple formats
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Ability to effectively manage workflows adapt processes and prioritize or delegate tasks as needed

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in any field
  • Experience advising undergraduate students
  • Experience with workflow management and process improvement
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
