Job Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President Philanthropy BIDMC of Beth Israel Lahey Health and coordinating with the key others the Executive Director of Planned Giving for BILH will lead a system-wide planned giving program across BILH business units. Will oversee a comprehensive planned giving program that reflects industry best practices and maximizes charitable contributions through deployment of the full complement of planned giving vehicles. Responsible for creating a cohesive strategy to build a strong planned giving program and pipeline at these affiliates while developing creative prospect engagement strategies and achieving ambitious fundraising goals. Will be the point person for creating a consistent legacy society structure while implementing a strong growth trajectory for each hospitals planned giving program. Consistency will be key along with strong revenue growth and membership growth in the planned giving programs for these affiliate hospitals. Will help to lead direct coordinate and execute the strategies for planned giving while fostering relationships to support the funding priorities in a manner aligned with the goals of each hospital. Works with senior leadership at each business unit to ensure alignment of operational strategies and the overall mission while continuing to inspire philanthropy from engaged donors and prospects.

Job Description:

Responsible for designing and leading a system-wide planned giving program that will enhance BILH hospitals standing in the medical community and contribute to their financial strength. Develop multi-year plans and goals to drive programmatic growth.

Work in direct partnership with each hospitals development and leadershipteamsto educate the constituents on the importance of planned giving for long term fundraising revenue support.Work with eachHospital philanthropy leaderto create a strategic plan for growing the pipeline for planned gifts.

Develops strategy to buildportfolioof planned giving prospects for each hospital in collaboration with major gift and prospect management efforts.Identify cultivate andsolicitplanned gifts such as bequests trusts and gift annuities ranging from 5 to 8 figures.

Create a consistent web presencemarketing plan and Legacy Societyforplanned gifts for each hospital. Create educational and stewardship events to grow interest and membership in the planned giving programs.

Devise implement and manage effective complex strategies to secure gifts at the $100000 level for capital and program priorities for each hospital;create a plan for cultivation and stewardship aligned with vision for each hospital.

Enhance operational efficiency in plannedgivingby creating systems and processes from gift documentation to reporting that areaccurateand aligned with the policies and standards of the BILH system philanthropy office.

Serves asa member of the BILHPhilanthropySenior LeadershipTeam with responsibility for advancing the system and affiliate institutions mission by working toidentify cultivatesolicit steward andretainplanned gift ($100000) prospects and donors.

Works with member hospitalson strategies for volunteer leadership and advisory councils to engage lay leaders and new prospects.

Works with hospital philanthropy leadersto shape key institutional and dev. related messages through the creation of major proposals solicitation letters and other materials for plannedgivingprospects and donors; communicates them to key audiences consistently for strategic positioning in the marketplace.

Establishes andmaintainshigh-quality relationships with hospital philanthropy leadersto stay abreast of the critical issues facinghealthcare andadvancing their institutional funding priorities.

Works with philanthropy leaderstoincrease Legacy Society membership andengage Board members and staff in considering planned gifts as part of their philanthropy.

Works directly with prospects and donors to align estate plans with philanthropic goals; achievean average of eightface to facevisits per month.

Education:

Bachelorsrequired; masters degree in related field preferred.

Experience:

More than 10 years related development work experienceand 3-5 years supervisory/management experience

Proventrack recordof implementation of strategies andplanstosubstantially increaserevenuethrough planned giving vehicles.

Skills Knowledge & Abilities:

Strong knowledge of financial and legal requirements of planned giving.

Demonstrated ability to engage and successfullyutilizeleaders and volunteers in achieving goals.

Demonstrated success in forging strong working relationships and building trust with donors and colleagues. Ability to effectivelyrepresentan organization to external audiences with strong verbalandwritten communications skills and proposal writing skills.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to travel occasionaleveningand weekend work. Ability to adjust to other needs of the department.

Advanced skills with Microsoft applications and otherweb-basedapplications. May produce complex documents performanalysisandmaintaindatabases.

S/he should be an experienced entrepreneurialarticulateanda highlymotivated professional with a proven record of closing six and seven figure gifts in a complex environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Knowledge of theutilizationof information systems to support fundraising activities.Demonstrated ability to prioritizeandcoordinate a large number of projects simultaneously with minimum supervision.

Raising funds for a capital campaign.

Pay Range:

$149989.00 USD - $215010.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors that may include seniority education training relevant experience relevant certifications geographyof work location job responsibilities or other applicable factors permissible by law.
