The Standards Value-Added Services team develops solutions reusable components and business-specific libraries for message identification validation transformation and visualisation. These components are deployed in critical Swift products and services to enable fast interoperable financial messaging within Swift and at customer premises.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a motivated and deliveryfocused Java Developer to join the Swift Translator team in Kuala Lumpur. You will contribute to the tooling used to automate the creation and deployment of reusable standards artefacts and to the development maintenance and support of the Swift Translator product and related integration components.

Swift Translator is a critical product enabling the validation and transformation of financial messages within vendor solutions Swift products and core internal services. Given its criticality we place strong emphasis on software quality robustness and operational stability.

You will:

• Work as part of a crossfunctional SCRUM development team supported by a Product Owner and technical leads located in Belgium or Malaysia.

• Collaborate with the Product Owner technical leads and a colocated Business Analyst to understand user stories and implement solutions aligned with agreed requirements and technical designs.

• Contribute to the development maintenance and enhancement of Javabased components of the Swift Translator product and its integration tooling.

• Contribute to technical discussions and design reviews providing input while following established architectural and design guidelines.

• Apply nonfunctional requirements such as performance security resilience and operational stability when implementing solutions.

• Contribute to build deployment and CI/CD activities supporting reliable and repeatable releases.

• Participate in code reviews and ensure that assigned code contributions follow agreed coding standards and quality practices.

• Collaborate with testers to implement and maintain automated tests and to improve overall software quality.

• Participate in production support activities including incident analysis and resolution when required and under established support processes..

• Ensure that design development and testing activities are performed in line with internal processes controls and quality expectations.

• Deliver assigned components or features endtoend under the guidance of technical leads and within team commitments.

• Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset and contribute ideas to improve the way we work the tools we use and the software we produce.

• Collaborate effectively with team members located in Malaysia and Europe within a distributed and multicultural environment.

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge and handson experience in Java development including objectoriented programming principles and common design patterns.

• Hands-on experience with the Java Swing framework.

• Handson experience with automated testing technologies (JUnit Mockito Cucumber etc.).

• Experience with common software development tools and platforms (e.g. Git IntelliJ Maven Jenkins Jira npm Windsurf etc.).

• Experience with messaging and parsing technologies (e.g. parsing validation and transformation of XML XSD XSLT and JSON).

• Experience with web application technologies (e.g. React React testing libraries Jest JSON HTTP APIs) is a strong asset.

• Understanding of web and application security concepts (e.g. OWASP Top 10)

• Qualityoriented and collaborative team player with an Agile mindset.

• Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with a structured and pragmatic approach.

• Proactive and deliveryoriented comfortable working handson to meet team objectives.

• Ability to work effectively in a distributed and multicultural environment with guidance from senior team members when needed.

• Experience or strong interest in financial messaging standards and payment systems (e.g. MT ISO 20022) is a strong asset.

• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins CloudBees) is a strong asset.

• Fluent in English (spoken and written).

Education

• University degree in IT or equivalent

Experience

• 35 years of relevant software development experience with proven contribution to the development and maintenance of complex software systems.
