Position Overview:
The Quality Engineer Intern supports the Quality Engineering organization by applying fundamental engineering concepts problem-solving tools and scientific methods to assigned tasks and projects. Under close to moderate supervision the intern assists with quality related activities learns relevant regulations and standards and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
This role is designed to provide hands-on experience while developing technical analytical and professional skills in quality driven environment.
This position will be 5 days a week onsite in Bethel CT. We currently do not provide housing.
This internship runs from approximately from May - August of 2026.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the application of basic Quality Engineering principles problem-solving methods and data analysis techniques to support daily quality activities.
- Support Quality Engineers and Quality System Engineer with project work investigations documentation and process improvement efforts of low to moderate complexity.
- Learn and apply relevant quality standards internal procedures and industry best practices under guidance.
- Participate in root cause analysis corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities and risk assessments as appropriate.
- Collect organize and analyze quality related data; prepare summaries and reports for review.
- Support compliance activities such as audits inspections and documentation reviews.
- Communicate effectively with our Quality team members and cross-functional stakeholders to complete assigned tasks.
- Develop foundation knowledge of Quality Engineering principles statistical tools engineering and scientific methods.
- Gain exposure to applicable regulations standards and quality systems.
- Build proficiency in technical documentation data driven decision making and professional communication.
- Learn project execution skills including planning tracking and reporting under supervision.
- Works under direct supervision of Quality Engineers or Quality management and leaders.
- Receives detailed instructions and guidance with increasing independence as skills and knowledge develop.
- Does not act as subject matter expert but demonstrates growing technical competence over time.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in Biomedical Mechanical Industrial Engineering or a related technical field.
- Basic understanding of engineering or quality concepts; coursework in statistics preferred.
- Strong analytical skills attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with data analysis tools is a plus.
Physical Demands
In addition to office responsibilities the intern may gain hands-on experience supporting operations engineering and quality functions.
Compensation
Fortemp temp-to-hire and regular full-time positions our company policy is that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must already be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for sponsorship now or in the future.
The compensation for this role is competitive and will be based on experience and qualifications. The anticipated compensation is $22.00 - $26.00/per hour depending on year in school.
