Description of responsibilities:
- Lead and instruct culinary team members
- Organize kitchen to meet goals of the department
- Prepare daily specials and plan events that enhance the resident dining experience
- Make decisions in the absence of the culinary director
- Hire orient and train team members
- Manage daily line set-up organization and monitoring
- Oversee daily production of community events
- Prepare food items utilizing standardized recipes
- Determine food and supplies needed
- Coordinate meal production with service hours
- Monitor food items for temperature taste and quality
- Ensure proper preparation portioning and serving of food items per the menu cycle and standardized recipes
- Interact with residents during mealtimes to monitor satisfaction
- Oversee proper food storage procedures
- Complete daily weekly and monthly cleaning duties
- Maintain food safety equipment records and food safety temperature records
- Practice all safety and loss prevention measures
- Complete food orders and inventory
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required experience:
- High school diploma/GED
- One (1) year of job related experience that includes food preparation full-line menu items and therapeutic diets
- Previous supervisory experience beneficial
- Culinary apprenticeship or training preferred
Required skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Interest in working with a senior population
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
