Finishing Lab Technician (Experienced)

Job Summary:
The Finishing Lab Technician is responsible for the final stages of lens production including edging drill mounts and tinting. This role requires a seasoned experienced technician who can work with precision consistency and minimal supervision to deliver high-quality finished eyewear. This is not an entry-level position.

Key Responsibilities:
Operate edging equipment to shape lenses to frame specifications and ensure proper fit. Perform drill mount work for rimless and semi-rimless frames including accurate hole placement alignment and secure assembly. Must be able to consistently produce high-quality drill mounts without supervision. Apply solid and gradient tints while maintaining color consistency and proper density. Inspect all finished eyewear for accuracy cosmetics and functionality resolving issues before jobs move forward. Perform routine maintenance on edging drilling and tinting equipment and troubleshoot minor issues as needed. Maintain accurate records of work performed and communicate recurring issues or improvement opportunities. Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements while maintaining compliance with lab standards.

Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Proven experience in an optical finishing lab is required with strong skills in edging and drill mounts. Tinting experience (solid and gradient) is preferred. Must be able to accurately read and verify prescriptions using a Humphrey lensometer or equivalent including a manual (BNL) lensometer. Ability to read and interpret job tickets and lens specifications is essential. Strong attention to detail steady hand and excellent manual dexterity required. Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills expected.

Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal oversight. Team-oriented reliable and consistent under production demands.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
Ability to stand for extended periods and handle small tools and delicate lenses. Strong visual inspection skills required. Work is performed in a lab environment with machinery noise and exposure to chemicals used in tinting and coatings. PPE required as needed.
