Head of Downstream Origination Iberia

Role Description 

The Head of Downstream Origination is a senior role within Iberian Origination reporting to the Head of Origination Iberia. The role is responsible for leading the downstream origination team driving commercial performance and value creation and contributing to the strategic development of Renewable PPAs BESS-enabled and hybrid solutions and other downstream products in the Iberian market. 

The position combines people leadership PnL-driving responsibility and a strong strategic and commercial focus acting as a key interface between Origination Portfolio Management and other internal stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead mentor and develop a team of Originators fostering a high-performance collaborative and value-driven culture aligned with Iberian origination strategy. 
• Drive downstream origination activity with a clear focus on value creation and contribution to PnL working closely with Portfolio Management on deal structuring pricing and optimisation. 
• Originate sponsor and negotiate transactions including Renewable PPAs BESS-related and hybrid solutions and other bespoke downstream products. 
• Leverage and continuously expand a strong personal network of corporates industrial customers and retailers to originate new business opportunities and grow the customer base. 
• Continuously analyse the Iberian power market regulatory environment and competitive landscape translating insights into concrete origination strategies and business cases. 
• Proactively contribute to Iberian and Group-level strategic discussions including product development pricing approaches and gotomarket strategy. 
• Oversee transactions from initial idea through approval contracting and implementation ensuring high-quality execution across ETRM CRM scheduling pricing and reporting systems. 
• Ensure activities are conducted in line with internal policies and risk frameworks actively identifying and mitigating commercial operational and regulatory risks. 

Qualifications :

Qualifications & Experience 

• Minimum 5 years experience in a senior front-office origination trading or structuring role with exposure to PnL responsibility. 
• Strong experience with Renewable PPAs structured power contracts and industry standards (e.g. EFET ISDA). 
• Solid understanding of battery energy storage systems (BESS) as part of integrated and hybrid commercial solutions. 
• Very good understanding of the Iberian power markets including wholesale and relevant ancillary services. 
• University degree in a relevant field. 
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; advanced Excel proficiency. 
• Professional fluency in English. 
• Native Spanish is required.
