Job Summary

- As a Forming Die Engineer specializing in Bipolar Plate (BPP) tooling responsible for the end to-end lifecycle of forming and stamping dies used in BPP manufacturing from conceptual design and fabrication coordination through to production support and routine maintenance.

- Working at the intersection of precision tooling and high-volume manufacturing collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including R&D quality and production engineering. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer who is hands-on outgoing and passionate about advancing clean energy manufacturing technology.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Die Design & Development: Understanding forming design and develop forming/stamping dies for BPP production. Capable discussion with supplier for forming die requirement and design. Prepare technical specification and requirement to supplier for new tool purchasing.

- Die Maintenance: Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for all forming dies. Diagnose die failures coordinate repair activities and manage spare parts inventory to minimize unplanned production downtime. Maintain accurate maintenance records and die history logs.

- Machining & Fabrication Coordination: Liaise with internal or external machine shops during die component fabrication. Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback on machined components. Familiarity with machining processes such as CNC milling turning EDM and grinding is expected.

- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to die design tooling materials and maintenance practices. Drive initiatives to extend die service life reduce scrap rates and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain complete tooling documentation including die specifications PFMEA control plans and engineering change records. Ensure all tooling activities comply with Bosch quality and safety standards.

Qualifications :

- Bachelors or masters degree in mechanical engineering Tool & Die Engineering Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline

- Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience in forming/stamping die engineering machining process experience is a big plus

- Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software (SolidWorks CATIA AutoCAD or equivalent)

- Good command of English both written and spoken for cross-functional and supplier communication

- Outgoing and collaborative personality with strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment

- Solid knowledge of sheet metal forming processes press tooling principles and die components (punches dies guides springs pilots etc.)

- Experience in die design production trial and troubleshooting of forming defects

- Hands-on experience in die maintenance and repair operations

- Understanding of tooling materials heat treatment and surface coating technologies (e.g. TiN TiCN)

- Familiarity with quality tools such as PFMEA control plans and PPAP

Preferred:

- Practical experience in machining processes (CNC EDM surface grinding) or direct collaboration with machine shop teams

- Exposure to thin sheet/foil forming particularly in the context of fuel cell components or BPP manufacturing

- Knowledge of forming simulation software (e.g. AutoForm Dynaform)

- Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies (Kaizen 5S SMED)

- Mandarin language ability is a plus for supplier communication
