As an administrative leader at the Chaifetz School of Business (CSB) at Saint Louis University (SLU) the Associate Dean of Undergraduate & Career Education provides strategic leadership administration and continuous improvement of undergraduate education including all aspects of the Chaifetz Way within the CSB. Reporting to the Dean this role advances the Schools mission to help individuals imagine who they can be and accelerate their journey of personal and professional leadership formation.

The Associate Dean works across academic departments and with university leadership to ensure alignment of undergraduate programs with labor market needs accreditation standards and institutional policies while delivering a cohesive student-centered academic experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Undergraduate Academic Leadership & Operations

  • Lead undergraduate education strategy including course scheduling enrollment planning and program delivery.

  • Partner with the Dean associate deans department chairs and faculty (including those at SLUs campus in Madrid) to align undergraduate programs with institutional priorities and workforce expectations.

  • Support recruitment retention and student success initiatives in collaboration with enrollment management CSB Business Programs Office marketing and academic advising.

  • Partner with department chairs on course scheduling and room assignments continuously aligning offerings with actual enrollment to ensure efficient operations and clear student pathways to graduation.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of undergraduate programs and the overall student experience.

Curriculum Governance & Academic Policy

  • Facilitate undergraduate curricular initiatives from development through approval including coordination with CSBs Undergraduate Curriculum Committee Faculty Assembly and university governance processes.

  • Interpret implement and ensure compliance with university and CSB academic policies and AACSB standards.

  • Serve as liaison between CSB faculty and university policymakers representing CSB perspectives and ensuring faculty awareness.

Student Support & Academic Coordination

  • Advise faculty and students on academic policies program requirements and curricular pathways.

  • In conjunction with Department Chairs evaluate and render decisions on student petitions and exceptions to academic policies presented by Academic Advising advocating on behalf of students to university committees as appropriate.

  • Support resolution of complex or escalated academic issues.

  • Promote consistency and equity in academic decision-making across departments serving as a central point of coordination across CSB units to ensure consistent student experience.

  • Coordinate transfer articulation appeals for Madrid students determine course equivalencies for BIZ offerings and serve as a point of coordination for business course articulations when departmental ownership is unclear.

  • Provide leadership and coordination for undergraduate components of the BIZ Department.

  • Collaborate with enrollment management on admission screening and application processes for the Accounting and Business Scholars programs; coordinate Business Scholars program benefits including the administration of scholarships awarded to eligible participants in their third (final) year.

Experiential Learning & Career Education Leadership

  • Support the Manager of Career Education & Cooperative Learning by providing strategic leadership and direction for experiential learning and career education initiatives including cooperative education (Co-op3- the Schools six-month full-time paid cooperative education program) internships for credit and other career development programming.

  • Serve as a member and leader of the CSB Co-op3 Operating Committee:

    • Facilitate candidate evaluation including eligibility assessment orientation instruction and assessment of Co-op3 participants.

    • Act as instructor of record for a portion of the participants

    • Contribute to the planning and execution of the Co-op3 end-of-semester symposium.

  • Lead the Internship-for-Credit program for graduate business students across fall spring and summer terms. This includes coordinating faculty sponsors ensuring compliance with registrar and Career Services policies collecting workplace performance evaluations and tracking enrollment.

  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations for international students participating in Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and with institutional requirements for out-of-state internships.

  • Cultivate and sustain relationships with employers alumni and external partners to expand experiential learning and career pathways.

  • Teach one or more sections of BIZ 3000-Career Foundations each semester and coordinate with the Manager of Career Education on alignment of course content managing Canvas course sites networking event integration enrollment coordination and course scheduling.

  • Support and coordinate with the work of the Hub for Community Engagement within the business school while enabling a high degree of independence.

Data Accreditation & Outcomes

  • Ensure that necessary outcomes data (e.g. First Destination Surveys for CSB masters programs and undergraduate experiential learning assessments) is collected and use insights to inform strategic improvements.

  • Manage processes related to national rankings including data submission and narrative development.

  • Serve as a key contributor to accreditation reviews self-study reports and program reviews.

  • Translate data into actionable insights to inform program improvements and strategic decisions.

  • Strong organizational and data management skills with a disciplined approach to ensuring data accuracy and using data to drive informed decision-making.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters degree in any field from an accredited institution.
