We are recruiting for a Full-Time Indigenous EarlyON Child and Family Centre Coordinator to support First Nation Inuit and Metis families with children up to age 6 at all EarlyON Child and Family Centres across The County of Simcoe. To provide cultural education and resources to support EarlyON Child and Family Centre employees. To support non-indigenous families to develop literacy around First Nation Inuit and Metis culture teachings and traditions. To work with community partners to identify gaps in service and methods of implementation to address identified needs. Establish and maintain ongoing collaborative relationships with EarlyON Child and Family Centre main and satellite sites and activities. Create healthy working relationships sharing information and resources between First Nation Inuit and Metis organizations and non-indigenous organizations. This is a 6 month contract with possible extension.
Compensation Package:
Work up to 37.5 hours per week
Minimum starting rate of pay is $34.51 per hour
11 paid statutory holidays

Minimum requirements of these positions include:
Proven successful completion of degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education Child and Family Studies or an acceptable equivalent diploma/degree program as determined by the employer
Minimum two years full- time recent experience working with children 0-6 years of age and their families is required; experience working with families in the First Nations Inuit and Metis community is required.

General knowledge of First Nation Inuit and Metis and universal community services and supports
Above average communication skills including proficiency in Microsoft office programs and knowledge of database applications
Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment as well as independently
Flexible exercises sound judgement with excellent interpersonal organizational and time management abilities
Understanding of The Council on Quality and Leadership Personal Outcome Measures is an asset
Current valid drivers licence and own reliable transportation to be used in the course of employment
Current valid certificates in First Aid CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (N.V.C.I).
Duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Having knowledge of and awareness of contemporary issues within First Nation Inuit and Metis community.
Assisting in the identification development and ongoing support of family/child enrichment programs.
Supporting positive parenting by providing appropriate and culturally sensitive parent education materials workshops and modeling appropriate parent/child interaction.
Developing and implementing programs that promote Indigenous language acquisition and that enrich understanding of First Nation Inuit and Metis teachings.
Promoting healthy child development and age-appropriate activities.
Promoting early identification of at-risk infants and preschoolers.
Facilitating conversations with parents around child development and refer to supports and services that address developmental concerns.
Promoting good nutrition programs.
Maintaining and distributing up-to-date literature outlining community services available.
Identifying gaps in service and making recommendations to enhance service.
Promoting Cultural Awareness Training to community partners who work with First Nation Inuit and Metis families.
Promoting good public relations by serving on committees and participating in community activities.
Purchasing toys equipment and parenting resources as needed and identified in the budget.
Participating on advisory committees as determined including providing resource support to the Biinoojinsag Committee.
Promoting EarlyON Child and Family Centre activities by participating in community events.
Preparing yearly work plans for submission and/or presentation.
Participating in ongoing data collection preparing and submitting monthly quarterly stats and participating in program evaluation as determined by the Manager.
Recruiting training and supporting students and volunteers as required.
Understanding and implementing procedures for P-Card mileage purchase orders and inventory control.
Recommending equipment purchases and purchase of service as needed.
