The Chief Deposit Officer is responsible for leading the banks deposit strategy driving growth in core deposits and optimizing deposit products and pricing. This role focuses on enhancing customer acquisition and retention managing funding costs and ensuring a stable and diversified deposit base. The CDO will work closely with retail commercial treasury and marketing teams to align deposit initiatives with the banks overall growth and liquidity objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deposit Strategy & Growth
Develop and execute strategies to grow retail SME and corporate deposit portfolios.
Drive initiatives to increase low-cost and stable deposits (CASA).
Identify new market opportunities segments and product innovations.
2. Product Development & Pricing
Oversee design and management of deposit products (savings current term deposits).
Set competitive pricing strategies in alignment with market conditions and treasury goals.
Continuously evaluate product performance and customer needs.
3. Customer Acquisition & Retention
Lead campaigns and initiatives to acquire new deposit customers.
Develop retention strategies to improve customer loyalty and reduce churn.
Enhance customer experience across all deposit touchpoints (branches digital channels).
4. Liquidity & Balance Sheet Management
Collaborate with treasury and finance teams to manage liquidity and funding requirements.
Optimize cost of funds and maintain a diversified funding base.
Monitor deposit trends runoff rates and concentration risks.
5. Sales & Channel Management
Work with retail and commercial banking teams to drive deposit mobilization.
Strengthen distribution channels including branches digital platforms and partnerships.
Support frontline teams with tools training and incentives to boost deposit growth.
6. Risk Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to deposits and consumer protection.
Monitor operational and reputational risks associated with deposit products.
Establish strong governance controls and reporting mechanisms.
7. Data Reporting & Analytics
Develop dashboards and KPIs for deposit growth cost of funds and customer behavior.
Use analytics to drive decision-making and product optimization.
Provide regular reports and insights to executive management and the Board.
8. Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Lead and mentor teams across product sales and operations functions.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders including treasury marketing IT and compliance.
Represent the bank in industry forums and market engagements.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Finance Business Administration Economics or related field; MBA preferred.
1215 years of experience in banking with significant exposure to deposits retail banking or treasury.
Proven track record in deposit growth product management and balance sheet optimization.
Strong understanding of banking regulations liquidity management and customer behavior.
