Job Summary

The Opportunity

The Faculty of Engineering UNSW is seeking a Faculty Education Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of engineering education. This is a senior leadership opportunity to drive innovation across the Facultys education portfolio and deliver an exceptional end-to-end student experience. You will lead transformative initiatives that enhance teaching learning and student outcomes contributing to UNSW Engineerings ambition to be recognised as a global leader in engineering this role you will also oversee the implementation of the Facultys Education Strategy Whitepaper.

Working closely with the Deputy Dean (Education) and senior academic and professional stakeholders you will set the strategic direction for the staff and student experience across the full lifecycle of engineering education. You will champion contemporary approaches to curriculum design learning technologies and education innovation while building capability across the Faculty to deliver high-quality scalable and impactful education services. This role will be central to embedding continuous improvement strengthening industry engagement and ensuring UNSW graduates are equipped to address complex global challenges.

To be successful in this role you will bring significant leadership experience within a complex organisation ideally in a higher education environment with a strong track record in delivering high-quality staff and student experience and education outcomes. You will demonstrate the ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders lead multidisciplinary teams and drive strategic initiatives that enhance teaching learning and student engagement. Strong analytical communication and change management skills are essential along with the ability to translate strategy into impactful practical outcomes.

  • Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant management experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education training and professional experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a university or similarly large complex organisation with a strong understanding of and commitment to delivering a high-quality student experience and meaningful engagement across the student lifecycle.
  • Proven strategic management experience with the ability to operate effectively as part of a senior management team and contribute to Faculty and institutional strategy development and delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in innovative curriculum design including the development and integration of digital learning solutions and the responsible adoption of generative AI in teaching and learning within a complex organisational environment.
  • Robust understanding of key strategic issues trends and best practice in higher education and curriculum design with demonstrated ability to translate these into informed practical and impactful educational initiatives.
  • Sound understanding of University and Faculty administration governance policies procedures and compliance requirements with the ability to effectively monitor and manage risk.
  • Highly developed organisational and operational management skills with the ability to manage complex workloads prioritise competing demands and meet multiple tight and conflicting deadlines.
  • Significant analytical and problem-solving capability including experience in designing implementing and continuously improving processes and systems supported by effective change management practices.
  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgement and resolve complex issues in uncertain and dynamic environments.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing teams setting clear priorities and accountabilities and driving outcomes across organisational and disciplinary boundaries.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication consultation and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to build and sustain strong relationships influence stakeholders and foster a strong customer service and continuous improvement culture. An understanding of and commitment to UNSWs aims objectives and values in action together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
