Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):
Serve as a peer mentor to support and guide incoming First-Generation BIPOC and Low-income college students by providing one-on-one connections attend workshops and serve as a cultural bridge and resource on campus. Act as a participant leader and engage with mentees creatively and with the Taylor Centers programming consistently.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with orientation activities for first-year First-Generation BIPOC and Low-income college students by communicating with incoming students during their orientation and participating in designated activities during New Student Orientation.
Attend monthly meetings and training sessions.
Participate and assist in the development and implementation of programs events and activities that support the transition process for new students and foster meaningful connections.
Serve as a peer mentor for First-Generation BIPOC and Low-income students throughout their transition to campus and acquaint them with St. Olaf culture campus resources and other activities and opportunities acting as a resource person between students staff faculty and departments.
Serve as a leader and role model.
Establish and maintain open communication with Taylor Center staff.
Communicate effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
Availability:
Arrival back to campus on August 31 2026 for Fall Training
Spring Summer and/or Fall Training
New Student Orientation Check-in (September)
Monthly Check-in
Attend bi-weekly team meetings as required
One student event per month
Required:

Available for September initial training and weekly meetings
Experience with Taylor Center activities and programs
Must be on campus for fall and spring and during New Student Orientation as applicable
Familiarity with Google applications
Familiarity with Taylor Center activities and programs for first generation students
Basic understanding of St. Olaf campus resources
Strong communication skills
