Lead Teacher - Early Childhood Education (Direct Hire)

Location: VCU Health System
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7.5-hour shifts between 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM

We are currently seeking experienced and passionate Lead Teachers to join our early childhood education team. This is a direct hire opportunity offering the chance to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment supporting the growth and development of children ranging from 6 weeks to 6 years old.

The ideal candidate is nurturing adaptable and experienced in leading classroom activities while fostering a safe engaging and developmentally appropriate learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a classroom of young children ensuring a safe and supportive environment
• Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities
• Support childrens social emotional and cognitive development
• Communicate effectively with parents caregivers and team members
• Maintain compliance with all safety and regulatory standards
• Handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced high-interaction setting

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education Child Psychology Psychology or a related field
  OR
  High School Diploma (or equivalent) with at least 40 hours of coursework in early childhood education or a related discipline
  OR
  Equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 2 years of formal experience working with children (paid or unpaid)
• Prior experience in a lead teacher or classroom leadership role
• Experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 6 years

Physical Requirements

• Frequent bending and movement
• Ability to climb stairs and occasional ladder use
• Ability to actively engage with children throughout the day

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working specifically with infants (6 weeks to 2 years old)
• Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education
