Job Summary
Lead Teacher - Early Childhood Education (Direct Hire)
Location: VCU Health System
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7.5-hour shifts between 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM

We are currently seeking experienced and passionate Lead Teachers to join our early childhood education team. This is a direct hire opportunity offering the chance to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment supporting the growth and development of children ranging from 6 weeks to 6 years old.
The ideal candidate is nurturing adaptable and experienced in leading classroom activities while fostering a safe engaging and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a classroom of young children ensuring a safe and supportive environment
- Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities
- Support childrens social emotional and cognitive development
- Communicate effectively with parents caregivers and team members
- Maintain compliance with all safety and regulatory standards
- Handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced high-interaction setting
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Early Childhood Education Child Psychology Psychology or a related field
OR
High School Diploma (or equivalent) with at least 40 hours of coursework in early childhood education or a related discipline
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience - Minimum of 2 years of formal experience working with children (paid or unpaid)
- Prior experience in a lead teacher or classroom leadership role
- Experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 6 years

- Comfort working in a fast-paced high-interaction and sometimes noisy environment

Physical Requirements
- Frequent bending and movement
- Ability to climb stairs and occasional ladder use
- Ability to actively engage with children throughout the day
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working specifically with infants (6 weeks to 2 years old)
- Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education
