Activities contributing to the product design improvement for manufacturability design of tools jigs and fixtures for easy manufacturability of HVDC Transformers and co-ordination with manufacturing process engineers for process improvement SOP generation and improvement projects. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.Job Description
Responsibilities
o Review transformer designs (Core Windings Winding Assembly Active Part Tanking and Final assembly) for manufacturability.
oAbility to work on 3D and 2D tools (Inventor/AutoCAD).
oModifies design to ensure manufacturability (DFM - Design for manufacturing).
oEnsure product designs are aligned with plant capabilities and production constraints in collaboration with Manufacturing process engineers for each section.
oWorks with CAD models and production constraints to ensure proper compatibility in 3D/2D model.
oCreating and optimizing manufacturing processes.
oOften involved early in product design to ensure feasibility.
oCollaborates closely with design engineers.
oSupporting production but improving product design for easier manufacturing and ability to suggest design changes to reduce cost/time.
oDrive value engineering and cost reduction initiatives.
oDesign and develop jigs fixtures molds dies and customized tools for easy manufacturability that improves Safety Quality Delivery and Cost.
oWork with vendors for fabrication and validation of tools.
oMaintain tooling standards and documentation.
oCreate and maintain: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Work Instructions (WI) and CTQs.
oWork closely with: Design engineering Procurement (material specs vendor capability) Quality team & Production for cross-functional collaboration.
oEnsure product designs are aligned with plant capabilities and production constraints in collaboration with Manufacturing process engineers for each section.
oProvide technical support to shop floor and resolve production challenges in collaboration with Manufacturing process engineers for each section.
oConduct and lead DFMEA and PFMEA
Education and Experience
oElectrical or mechanical engineer or person with experience in Design and Manufacturing (in Power Transformers)
oExperience of working on 3D 2D tools (Inventor / equivalent AutoCAD)
oExperience of Document management system (Windchill / equivalent)
oTransformer design knowledge
oGood knowledge about the Power Transformer manufacturing process
oExperience as an industrial engineer with good knowledge of transformer manufacturing process and 2D/3D tools.
