Job Title: Certified Ophthalmic Technician
Location: New York NY
Job Type: Contract (13 Weeks)
Schedule:
- Shift: Day Shift
- Hours: 5x8-hour shifts (7:45 AM 4:30 PM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Certified Ophthalmic Technician to support ophthalmologists in a fast-paced clinical setting. The ideal candidate will perform diagnostic eye testing assist with procedures and ensure efficient patient flow while maintaining high standards of patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary ophthalmic examinations for physician review
- Conduct diagnostic tests including visual field testing (central and peripheral) ocular motility color vision and pupil assessments
- Perform tonometry tonography and related ophthalmic measurements
- Obtain and document patient medical and personal history
- Coordinate patient flow and assist with scheduling tests imaging and procedures
- Prepare patients for examinations and surgical procedures
- Calibrate maintain and troubleshoot ophthalmic equipment (slit lamp keratometer tonometer lensometer etc.)
- Sterilize and prepare instruments for clinical and surgical use
- Assist physicians with minor office procedures laser treatments and operating room support
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with clinical standards
Requirements:
- Strong hands-on experience in ophthalmic diagnostic testing
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining ophthalmic equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced patient-focused environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Certifications & Licensure:
- Ophthalmic Technician Certification required
