Job Summary:
In this job you will assist with the set-up programming operation and adjustment of conventional or automatic machines such as Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) this role you will work from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts in making repairs to metal parts as well as for experimental apparatus or prototype equipment and read CNC programs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in operating CNC machines under guidance from senior machinists
- Perform basic setups and tool changes with or without supervision
- Conduct simple measurements using calipers micrometers and tape measures
- Follow engineering prints and work instructions with support
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area
- Perform basic inspections and report any irregularities
- Adhere to safety protocols and operational guidelines
- Support production goals by completing assigned tasks efficiently
- Other duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 0-1 year of machining experience preferred
- Technical training or coursework in machining is a plus
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and prints.
- Ability to work in auto cad including work with computers hand tools and measuring devices such as calipers micrometers and tape measures.
- Ability to write CNC programs.
- Ability to set up and operate manual lathes and other machines according to precise tolerances.
- Ability to change tooling set up machines according to required machining sequences.
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Basic maintenance skills.
- Ability to work and run your machine with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements:
- A 40-hour work week (Five 8-hour shifts/weekly on average Monday through Friday).
- Overtime may be required as needed to meet production demands.
- Prolonged periods of standing walking bending and stretching.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
