Description of Work
This position will assist in quality/safety management of the NCVDLS (North Carolina Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory System) which consists of four diverse laboratories located in Raleigh Monroe Elkin and Fletcher.Responsibilities include overseeing the equipment maintenance & calibration program overseeing the proficiency testing & competency program supporting the internal audit program and providing technical assistance and consultation to management and staff on interpretation and application of quality/safety standards and accreditation requirements including compliance corrective action plans development/implementation/maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures and representation of NCVDLS during all external audit activities.

- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a wide variety of laboratory personnel
- Broad knowledge of veterinary laboratory disciplines and equipment
- Ability to develop and present training programs on a wide variety of quality and safety topics
- Ability to travel for on-site support of the branch labs and for training

Minimum Education and Experience
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelors degree in medical technology chemistry or a biological science from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in a laboratory in the assigned area one of which is in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be capable of meeting the Federal CLIA88 personnel requirements for a general supervisor in a laboratory
performing high complexity testing.
