DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION The MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI) to lead the MITEI Education Office including oversight of the Energy Scholars Program the Energy Studies Minor and its faculty committee MITEIs UROP activities the Education newsletter and the Open Learning portfolio. The Director will be the primary advisor on educational matters for MITEIs leadership team and is the leading representative of MITEIs education program to other MIT units MIT faculty administrators and students and MITEIs member companies; responsible for student recruitment for the Energy Studies Minor managing and executing first-year orientation campus preview weekend student-company mixer summer UROP other programs and for interacting with MIT student clubs related to energy sustainability and climate; assisting with donor interactions to grow MITEIs education funding base and working with MITEI member companies to fulfill their educational goals; managing MITEIs Education funds tracks statistics on enrollment and engagement ensures timely completion of required Energy Studies Minor and curricular reviews and reports for MITEI member companies; and supervises an Associate Director and additional staff including interns or part-time employees.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Bachelors degree in engineering physical/chemical science or environmental science/policy; a minimum of five years of experience administering a university-level education program in STEM; demonstrated experience working with undergraduate and PhD students and proven success in increasing student engagement; and familiarity with managing open learning leading small teams (including hiring) tracking budgets organizing activities and giving oral presentations. PREFERRED: Advance degree; background includes interaction with the private sector either through work experience or having made connections between a university and external company stakeholders; and familiarity with MITs educational programs degree requirements and administrative structure.
