Knowledge of federal state and municipal laws and standards related to genetic services. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to navigate sensitive and stressful conversations with diplomacy and tact. Strong organizational presentation analytical and problemsolving skills. Basic computer proficiency and comfort using standard software applications.
Pay Range
$38.20 - $57.30Make a meaningful impact at the intersection of genetics oncology and patient care. We are seeking a compassionate and detailoriented Genetic Counselor to join our Cancer Center this role you will partner with multidisciplinary clinical teams to help patients and families understand genetic risk navigate complex testing decisions and adapt to inherited cancer risks with confidence and support. Essential Functions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams and healthcare providers to deliver highquality genetic and genomic care.
- Partner with physicians and research teams to plan and implement geneticsrelated clinical research initiatives.
- Identify patients who may benefit from genetic or genomic services through comprehensive assessment of medical and family histories.
- Explain the genetic evaluation process to patients including available testing options and clearly outline risks benefits and limitations.
- Order genetic tests and conduct clinical assessments in compliance with local state and federal regulations.
- Integrate genetic test results with personal and family medical history to assess and communicate disease risk.
- Interpret and explain the clinical implications of genetic and diagnostic test results to patients and care teams.
- Provide accurate current and credible genetic information resources and referrals tailored to each patients culture beliefs literacy level and preferred language.
- Advocate for patientcentered decisionmaking using an unbiased noncoercive and respectful approach.
- Support patients in expressing their goals and pursuing informed choices related to genetic services.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and outcomes of genetic technologies interventions and treatments.
- Document case information clearly and concisely in the medical record and in correspondence with referring providers.
- Participate in case discussions with members of the healthcare team as appropriate.
- Plan and deliver public and professional education programs related to genetics genetic counseling and patient care.
- Conduct regular selfassessments to identify knowledge or skill gaps and take action to maintain clinical excellence.
- Maintain ongoing professional growth by staying current with standards of practice emerging research and societal developments in genetics and genomics.
Education Experience & Credentials
- Education:Masters degree in Genetic Counseling from an ACGCaccredited program
- Licensure / Certification:
- Active Candidate Status for ABGC board certification or
- BoardCertified Genetic Counselor (CGC)
