Position Summary:

Provide patient care as assigned under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) or a physician.

• Practices in compliance with regulatory standards and adheres to hospital policy and procedures in the performance of duties.
• Performs ongoing patient observations per patient acuity.
• Recognizes responds and reports changes in patient condition to RN.
• Recognizes need for interventions and implements appropriate processes to meet patients age specific needs while under the direction of an RN
• Performs prioritizes and documents patient care tasks with education and competency documented. Refer to Covenant Health Delegation Grid.
• Accurately follows the plan of care and pertinent medical orders in collaboration and under direction of RN.
• Facilitates timely physician evaluation and intervention.
• Participates in unit specific quality assurance activities as requested.
• Demonstrates principles of infection control; collaborates with infection control nurse to ensure safety of patients visitors and personnel.
• Assists in orienting new employees or students to unit routines.
• Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
• Follows policies procedures and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

None specified; however must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience:

One (1) year of continuous experience as an EMT-P.

Licensure Requirements:

Must have and maintain paramedic licensure with the State of Tennessee. CPR required.
