Position Summary
The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up programming and operating woodworking CNC machines (currently Biesse) to fabricate and modify plywood components with a high degree of accuracy. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product quality through precise machining and inspection processes.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret engineering drawings blueprints charts and work orders to determine machining operations and optimal sequencing
Set up program operate and maintain CNC woodworking machines to produce precision components
Measure lay out and verify dimensions and tolerances using precision tools (calipers micrometers height gauges etc.)
Inspect machined parts to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications
Identify troubleshoot and resolve machine faults; modify and debug CNC programs as needed
Calibrate and adjust machine programs to maintain accuracy and efficiency
Develop and implement corrective actions for any specification deviations
Perform routine machine maintenance including cleaning lubrication and minor part replacement
Maintain accurate inspection records and complete quality reports
Manage and monitor plywood stock inventory levels
Collaborate with supervisors leads and team members to support production goals
Perform other related duties as assigned
Environment Health & Safety (EHS)
Consistently follow all EHS policies procedures and general safety rules
Demonstrate initiative in working safely including identifying and reporting hazards
Actively participate in EHS programs and continuous improvement efforts
Safety glasses and steel toe shoes must be worn at all times
Safety gloves and hearing protection are available and should be used as needed
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to read and interpret production drawings blueprints and work instructions
35 years of experience operating CNC woodworking machinery in a furniture cabinetry or similar manufacturing environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Preferred:
Post-secondary or industry training in machining or CNC programming
