CNC Operator

Position Summary

The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up programming and operating woodworking CNC machines (currently Biesse) to fabricate and modify plywood components with a high degree of accuracy. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product quality through precise machining and inspection processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings blueprints charts and work orders to determine machining operations and optimal sequencing
• Set up program operate and maintain CNC woodworking machines to produce precision components
• Measure lay out and verify dimensions and tolerances using precision tools (calipers micrometers height gauges etc.)
• Inspect machined parts to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications
• Identify troubleshoot and resolve machine faults; modify and debug CNC programs as needed
• Calibrate and adjust machine programs to maintain accuracy and efficiency
• Develop and implement corrective actions for any specification deviations
• Perform routine machine maintenance including cleaning lubrication and minor part replacement
• Maintain accurate inspection records and complete quality reports
• Manage and monitor plywood stock inventory levels
• Collaborate with supervisors leads and team members to support production goals
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Environment Health & Safety (EHS)

• Consistently follow all EHS policies procedures and general safety rules
• Demonstrate initiative in working safely including identifying and reporting hazards
• Actively participate in EHS programs and continuous improvement efforts
• Safety glasses and steel toe shoes must be worn at all times
• Safety gloves and hearing protection are available and should be used as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read and interpret production drawings blueprints and work instructions
• 35 years of experience operating CNC woodworking machinery in a furniture cabinetry or similar manufacturing environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Preferred:

• Post-secondary or industry training in machining or CNC programming
