This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of East Sussex County Councils transformation guiding how projects programmes and digital capabilities are delivered to enable resilient services better-informed decisions and lasting organisational change.

You will have strategic responsibility for directing and leading the delivery of complex projects and programmes ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and transformation objectives. Using these capabilities to underpin the design and implementation of IT and Digital products and services that enable operational excellence and transformative change.


This role drives successful project and programmes delivery to enable organisational change embedding robust PMO practices for transparency and accountability advising on risks and dependencies and enabling tailored public services through effective delivery. It also supports efficiencies and cost savings through structured change initiatives and enhances strategic and operational decisions with data-driven insights.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
  • Leadership experience in a complex business environment ideally in a local authority/public service setting with similar scale to ESCC.
  • Ability to inspire and influence staff and delivery partners to engage fully with the long-term vision and purpose of the Council and present complex information in an engaging way.
  • Ability to foster transparency and bring a high level of skill in managing financial and budgeting processes.
  • Embodies a high standard of personal and professional behaviour and creates a culture that reinforces personal and professional standards.
  • A strategic approach to Digital Data and Technology and a deep understanding of the partnering role digital services play in a modern organisation.
