Shift: (Per Diem (PD) 8 - 25 hrs. per week M-F) Days evenings flexible shift on call rotational coverage and weekends may be needed.

CORE JOB SUMMARY

The CAT Scan Technologist - PRN obtains patient history explains standard procedures and addresses patient concerns. The incumbent also produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas as required by the departmental procedures. Additionally an employee in this position performs obstetric gynecological abdominal and retroperitoneais scans ultrasound techniques and examinations and radiation therapy localization.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Verifies patients ID by checking their name and date of birth.
  • Conducts patient interviews to describe level of discomfort or pain prior to during and after the exam.
  • Obtains necessary consent from patients before conducting procedures.
  • Maintains and cleans all equipment in accordance with decontamination procedures.
  • Supervises and performs imaging procedures under the direction of a radiologist using age appropriate standards of practice.
  • Performs venipunctures contrast administration and other relevant procedures in a safe manner.
  • Notifies appropriate person of any change(s) in patients status.
  • Assists the radiologist throughout procedures with all the necessary supplies.
  • Follows safety security and infection control standards.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure continuous improvement of services provided.
  • Prepares automatic injector with proper contrast adjusting all settings and parameters according to procedure requirements and radiologist preference.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Associate degree in relevant field required

Experience:
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required

Certification and Licensing:
Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements
