About the Role

You will be an important member of our clinical unit by ensuring the delivery of high-quality person-centred care to all patients. You will work within multi-disciplinary teams to provide effective and efficient evidence-based care whilst also demonstrating commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

As an Anaesthesia Fellow you rotate through a range of anaesthesiology services including regional anaesthesia cardiac thoracic neuro-anaesthesia and airway/ENT.

The stream of the fellowship can be:

  • Airway: A focus on advanced airway management with regular allocation to airway specific lists such as complex head and neck surgery including free flap reconstruction airway surgery with shared airway and laser cases thoracic and maxillofacial surgery
  • Perioperative Ultrasound: A fellowship aimed at equipping and advancing skills in diagnostic perioperative point of care ultrasound (POCUS) supporting fellows in obtaining recognized national and international standards. 6-month terms offered in this stream only.
  • Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Echocardiography: Focused skill and knowledge development in both TOE and TTE
  • Regional Anaesthesia: Skill and knowledge development progressing to a more independent role with an emphasis on advanced techniques research teaching and training.

Classifications for this position will range from HM25 - HM30 ($129048.40 - $177622.12 per annum pro-rata for part time)

What You will Bring

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • AHPRA Registration
  • National Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) or willing to obtain
  • Undertaking or recently completed Post Graduate specialist training in Anaesthesia with completion of the ANZCA Final Fellowship examination (or overseas equivalent)

About Department of Anaesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine

The department of Anaesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine provides anaesthetic and perioperative services including acute pain medicine for general and specialist surgical and interventional medical procedures to adults performing over 16000 procedures annually. It is an accredited ANZCA training hospital with an excellent record of high-quality teaching and examination success. There is a strong incentive for clinical research and the Department has many new research projects and publications per year alongside a number of national and international presentations.
