TITLE: School-Based Therapist
REPORTS TO: School-Based
STATUS: Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
The School-Based Therapist provides mental health and/or substance use services education consultation and prevention support to students in school settings. This role includes assessment treatment and crisis intervention services to support student well-being and success.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct mental health and/or substance use services including but not limited to intake assessments individual family and group counseling crisis intervention and prevention services.
- Develop and maintain treatment plans treatment plan updates psychotherapy notes and all required clinical documentation in a timely manner.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings clinical consultations IEP meetings and other meetings as required.
- Collect and track mental health/substance use data and student outcomes to support program evaluation and effectiveness.
- Identify and coordinate appropriate family and community resources for treatment support and/or placement.
- Provide crisis assessment and intervention services including availability outside of standard business hours when required.
- Support student reintegration following hospitalization or residential placement including development and implementation of re-entry plans.
- Maintain knowledge of school disciplinary policies at-risk student indicators referral processes and special education regulations; assist with related processes as appropriate.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration with students families school personnel and community partners.
- Conduct family-based interventions as clinically indicated; encourage caregiver involvement in treatment planning.
- Assist families in accessing and utilizing community resources and coordinate care among providers to support treatment goals.
- Maintain flexibility to work adjusted schedules including evenings and weekends as needed to meet client needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid drivers license reliable transportation and current auto insurance (travel required).
- Adherence to professional ethics confidentiality standards and all applicable regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Masters degree in Social Work Counseling or a related human services field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience preferred.
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain Nebraska licensure (LMHP LCSW LIMHP or LICSW).
