Job Summary

TITLE: School-Based Therapist

REPORTS TO: School-Based

STATUS: Exempt


POSITION SUMMARY:
The School-Based Therapist provides mental health and/or substance use services education consultation and prevention support to students in school settings. This role includes assessment treatment and crisis intervention services to support student well-being and success.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct mental health and/or substance use services including but not limited to intake assessments individual family and group counseling crisis intervention and prevention services.
  • Develop and maintain treatment plans treatment plan updates psychotherapy notes and all required clinical documentation in a timely manner.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings clinical consultations IEP meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Collect and track mental health/substance use data and student outcomes to support program evaluation and effectiveness.
  • Identify and coordinate appropriate family and community resources for treatment support and/or placement.
  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention services including availability outside of standard business hours when required.
  • Support student reintegration following hospitalization or residential placement including development and implementation of re-entry plans.
  • Maintain knowledge of school disciplinary policies at-risk student indicators referral processes and special education regulations; assist with related processes as appropriate.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with students families school personnel and community partners.
  • Conduct family-based interventions as clinically indicated; encourage caregiver involvement in treatment planning.
  • Assist families in accessing and utilizing community resources and coordinate care among providers to support treatment goals.
  • Maintain flexibility to work adjusted schedules including evenings and weekends as needed to meet client needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid drivers license reliable transportation and current auto insurance (travel required).
  • Adherence to professional ethics confidentiality standards and all applicable regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Masters degree in Social Work Counseling or a related human services field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain Nebraska licensure (LMHP LCSW LIMHP or LICSW).
