Job Summary
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational management of ambulatory care services within the organization. Oversees the clinical administrative operational and financial activities within ambulatory services ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and optimizes resource allocation. Develops and implements strategic plans and policies and collaborates with senior leadership healthcare providers and administrators to drive strategic initiatives enhance patient outcomes and achieve organizational goals.
Oncology Specific Tasks and Responsibilities include:
Operational Leadership
- Under the direction of the Departmental Administrator and in coordination with the Director of Nursing Divisional leadership and the Medical Director provides enterprise-level leadership and oversight leads directs and oversees the daily operation of Ambulatory practices (medical oncology multidisciplinary clinics and infusion centers) including reviewing workflows reviewing staffing and ensuring staffing competencies are appropriate.
- Implement and standardize operational workflows and best practices where appropriate across all sites of care within the department
- Collaborate with research leadership to achieve seamless integration of clinical trials into ambulatory workflows with attention to regulatory requirements and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership in oversight of ambulatory oncology infusion operations including capacity planning chair utilization staffing models and patient flow.
- Partner with pharmacy medical and nursing leadership to optimize chemotherapy preparation delivery timelines and safety protocols.
- Partner with teams to improve timeliness of care reduce delays and enhance patient experience.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement action plans to improve performance.
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Develop and implement short- and long-term strategies to enhance ambulatory care services.
- Drive growth initiatives such as expanding services opening new practices or improving access to care.
- Work closely with departmental leadership to align ambulatory operations with overall organizational strategy.
Financial Management
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue optimization.
- Advise on resource allocation staffing models and productivity metrics to maximize financial performance.
- Lead initiatives to improve the quality of care and ensure patient safety in ambulatory settings.
- Partner with revenue cycle teams to optimize charge capture prior authorization workflows and denial prevention including research in ambulatory oncology settings.
- Monitor financial performance related to infusion services clinic productivity and resource utilization.
Quality And Patient Safety:
- Collaborate with clinical teams to implement evidence-based practices and maintain compliance with any regulatory standards (e.g. Joint Commission CMS).
- Lead initiatives to reduce treatment delays errors and adverse events in ambulatory oncology settings.
- Monitor patient satisfaction and implement strategies to improve patient experience.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Provide leadership mentorship and development opportunities to clinic managers and administrative staff.
- Foster a culture of collaboration accountability and continuous improvement within the ambulatory team.
- Oversee recruitment retention and performance management of key operational staff.
Technology And Innovation:
- Drive the adoption of technology solutions to improve operational efficiency and patient care delivery.
- Collaborate with IT and clinical teams to ensure the successful implementation and optimization of Electronic Health Records (EHR) and other health technology systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in healthcare administration business administration or a related field (Required) and
- Masters Degree in healthcare administration business administration or a related field (Preferred)
- 7 years of healthcare operations management (Required) including
- 3 years of related management experience (Required)
Salary Range: $140000 to $200000 per year. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
