About the unit

The Troy Operating Room is a Level II Trauma Center comprising 21 operating rooms located in the Area D and 6 procedure rooms within the Area A suite.

The department supports a robust high-volume robotic surgery program featuring four da Vinci Xi systems one da Vinci 5 (DV5) and one SP robot in addition to Mazor and Mako robotic platforms for orthopedic procedures.

The OR also includes two dedicated cardiovascular (CV) operating rooms designed to support complex cardiac and vascular cases as well as a dedicated vascular lab supporting comprehensive diagnostic and interventional vascular services.

Surgical case volume is predominantly driven by orthopedic services which account for approximately 45% of all procedures largely consisting of total joint cases. The remaining 55% reflects a diverse mix of specialties including Colon and Rectal Surgery General Surgery Urology Bariatric Plastics Spine Vascular Thoracic and ENT.

Scope of work

TheCharge Lead Nurserole is to provide direct oversight and supervision of a select line of surgical specialties and unit processes. This is inclusive of but not limited to staffing and scheduling changes patient care issues and concerns appropriate allocation of resources responding to all codes and handling employee issues and addition to ensuring consistent flow of patients through the department. Functions within the framework of policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates growth/development.

Qualifications

  • Associates in Nursing Required

  • Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years

  • Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.

  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required

  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required

  • Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years

  • 2 years of RN experience preferred

  • OR RN experience preferred
