What youll do (the role)

The Summer Internship program is twelve weeks long and will run from June 1st 2026 to August 31st 2026. Interns will be paid 1.500 brut/month. This is a hybrid role and the trainee must be able to work from our office in Madrid at least 3 days per week.

Summary

  • As an Engineering Intern within the Grid & Interconnection team you will support the development and implementation of engineering assurance processes as well as the structuring and analysis of technical knowledge across multiple renewable energy projects and geographies.
  • Working alongside experienced engineers you will contribute to the creation of centralized repositories for engineering documentation technical specifications and project data enabling standardisation and continuous improvement across the organisation.
  • This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in high-voltage infrastructure design (including substations and transmission lines) technical documentation management and engineering governance within an international renewable energy environment.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Support the development and implementation of an Engineering Assurance framework contributing to the definition of processes checklists and quality control mechanisms for engineering deliverables.
  • Assist in the creation and structuring of a centralised repository of engineering documentation including designs technical reports and lessons learned from existing projects.
  • Analyse existing project documentation to identify key patterns best practices and areas for standardisation across different countries and technologies.
  • Contribute to the development of a technical specifications repository ensuring alignment with international standards and adaptability to local regulatory requirements.
  • Support engineering activities related to the design of high-voltage infrastructure including substations overhead transmission lines and underground cable systems.
  • Assist in reviewing engineering designs and documentation to ensure consistency completeness and compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to organise visualise and communicate technical information in a clear and structured manner.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal tools and workflows for engineering data management and knowledge sharing.

Experience & Knowledge Required

  • Academic background or coursework in Electrical Engineering Power Systems or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of high-voltage electrical systems including substations transmission lines (overhead and underground) and grid connection infrastructure.
  • Foundational knowledge or strong interest in protection and control systems including protection schemes relays and substation automation.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and their role in monitoring and control of electrical networks is considered a plus.
  • Exposure to engineering design principles technical documentation or electrical layouts through academic projects or internships.
  • Interest in grid interconnection of renewable energy projects including technical aspects of integrating generation assets into existing networks

Skills Required

  • Strong technical mindset with the ability to understand and interpret engineering concepts and documentation.
  • Strong interest in electrical engineering particularly in high-voltage systems control and protection schemes and SCADA systems.
  • Ability to read understand and structure technical documentation including electrical diagrams specifications and engineering reports.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to summarise and present technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Organised proactive and able to manage multiple tasks in a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Proficient in English; knowledge of an additional European language is a plus.

Education Required

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelors or Masters degree programme in Electrical Engineering Energy Systems Power Systems Renewable Energy or a closely related field
