FIELD OPERATOR

Summary:The Field Operator is an infrastructure maintenance position that will perform a variety of skilled semi-skilled technical and/or manual labor activities and duties related to the maintenance and repair of public infrastructure. Field Operators may be assigned to collection/distribution system maintenance street maintenance (concrete and asphalt) storm water construction and maintenance levee maintenance or airport maintenance or water meter reading and will be cross-trained in field maintenance :Duties may include installation maintenance and repair of infrastructure within city right-of-way property easement and facilities; use of computer technology; water meter readings and operation of vehicles equipment and tools required for position assignment. All crews assist with special in-house construction projects may be assigned to assist other crews provide emergency response and seasonal snow removal and may include 12-hour shifts working days and/or :High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Three years of increasingly responsible heavy equipment operation construction or building trades preferred. Must possess valid Kansas drivers license; will be required to obtain Class A Commercial Drivers License within 6 months of hire. Must acquire job-required certifications within 24/42 months of hire for continued employment.
