Core Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Teaching General Science at Key Stage 3 and your specialist discipline (Biology Chemistry or Physics) at Key Stage 4 (GCSE).
Post-16 Contribution: For suitable candidates there is the opportunity to teach A-Level or Level 3 BTEC Applied Science supporting students in their transition to higher education.
Practical Leadership: Planning and executing safe engaging practical lessons that meet the requirements of the Required Practicals and foster a genuine love for scientific discovery.
Diagnostic Assessment: Using data-driven insights to identify student misconceptions and tailoring your teaching to ensure all learners make exceptional progress.
STEM Enrichment: Leading extracurricular activities such as Science Club or the CREST Awards and coordinating visits to local science museums and research centres.
The Successful Candidate We are looking for a practitioner who can bring complex scientific theories to life with clarity and enthusiasm. Requirements include:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in a core Science discipline (Biology Chemistry or Physics).
Technical Proficiency: A firm grasp of the secondary science curriculum and the ability to teach across all three disciplines at Key Stage 3.
Safety Consciousness: A total commitment to classroom safety and a thorough understanding of CLEAPSS guidelines for laboratory work.
Effective Communication: The ability to explain abstract conceptsfrom atomic structure to metabolic pathwaysin a way that is accessible and exciting for all ability levels.
