Role DescriptionAs a Field Engineer you will be a key driver of day-to-day site operations ensuring every phase of construction adheres to project plans schedules and our high safety standards. You will supervise site activities coordinate subcontractors and maintain seamless communication between all stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. This is a 6-12 month contract position.
Responsibilities
- Mentors and leads inspections and orientations identifies hazards and corrections and leads by example for health and safety practices and procedures.
- Coordinates with the superintendent on workforce planning.
- Maintains project document control and procedures. Supports project engineers and/or superintendents to lead trade contractors including requests for information (RFIs) shop drawings changes and billings.
- Participates in the supervision of self-perform scopes including resolving crew sizes labor tracking and quantity tracking for Labor Cost Reports (LCRs).
- Mentors and coaches field engineers and students/interns.
- Identifies issues on-site or in defined work scopes.
- Coordinates third-party inspections and site reviews.
- Participates in crafting implementing and supervising quality plan Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
- Develops and maintains positive relationships focusing on all partners.
Qualifications
- Associates or bachelors degree in a related field: construction management engineering architecture preferred or equivalent experience.
- 0 to 8-12 months of varied experience as field engineer/coordinator preferred; time acquired during internships in the field may count as experience.
- Knowledge of construction specifications and methods and procedures (e.g. formwork methodologies self-perform work subcontracted work scopes temporary work equipment and scheduling techniques).
- Understands and applies construction principles to problem solve.
- Effective verbal and written communication with supervisors and subcontractors and reports.
- Proven track record to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Writes clear technical communication to trade contractors designers and inspectors.
- Develops and maintains effective partner relationships.
- Proficient Microsoft Office Suite and construction related software.
Physical Requirements
- Mobility: Must be able to traverse a large active construction site daily including navigating uneven terrain climbing stairs and utilizing ladders to inspect work in progress.
- Duration: Ability to stand and walk for the majority of a shift (810 hours) to maintain a constant presence in the field.
- Strength: Ability to lift carry or move up to 50 lbs of equipment materials or signage as needed.
- Agility: Must be able to access hard-to-reach areas such as confined spaces or elevated platforms to perform necessary inspections.
- PPE Compliance: Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment for the duration of the shift.
Work Environment
- This role is based at a major data center project (USA Parkway). Applicants should be aware of the commute (approx. 25 miles/4590 minutes from Reno/Sparks depending on traffic). Living in Carson City Virginia City Silver Springs etc. could minimize commute significantly.
