Position Summary
This Nurse Manager II role oversees Utilization Management and Discharge Planning operations in a 24/7 healthcare environment. The position involves leading implementation of best practice models managing care delivery across multiple locations and directing clinical teams while ensuring optimal patient outcomes and regulatory compliance.
Must-Haves
- Recent nursing and management experience in acute care UR/Case management
- Minimum 5 years of experience in patient care delivery
- Minimum 5 years of experience in business operations clinical healthcare or directly related field
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a leadership role
- Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN)
- California Registered Nurse License (required at hire)
- Basic Life Support certification (required at hire)
Primary Functions
- Lead implementation of best practice models and patient care delivery systems across multiple locations
- Delegate tasks related to investigation and resolution of patient/family/member concerns regarding patient care and services
- Facilitate collaboration with physicians outside healthcare providers and healthcare team members to achieve optimal and safe patient care
- Monitor resource needs in clinical areas to ensure appropriate assignment and utilization
- Manage use and maintenance of equipment supplies and medications
- Ensure safe environment for patients and employees
- Create and advocate for developmental opportunities; build collaborative cross-functional relationships
- Hire train and develop talent for growth opportunities and succession planning
- Manage designated units or teams by translating business plans into tactical action items
- Oversee completion of work assignments and identify opportunities for improvement
- Manage hospital administrative functions including recruitment performance evaluation training and development and quality/risk management
- Design continuous survey readiness activities and maintain compliance with regulatory standards
- Lead development monitoring and control of departmental payroll and non-payroll budgets
- Develop strategic partnerships with physicians and service area leaders
- Lead multidisciplinary hospital team(s) and hold teams accountable for performance
- Assist in design of emergency preparedness programs
- Lead project teams and monitor implementation and delivery on objectives
- Drive continuous improvement of quality and safety of clinical practices services and operations
- Hold staff accountable for maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
