Plant Manager - Tile Manufacturing
Oversees daily operations focusing on high-volume production quality control (glazing firing pressing) kiln maintenance and safety compliance. They optimize manufacturing efficiency manage labor and control costs to meet production schedules and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities in Tile Manufacturing
- Production Scheduling: Develop and execute production schedules to meet customer and inventory demands optimizing equipment and personnel utilization.
- Quality & Process Control: Define and oversee strict QC methods for raw materials glazes and finished tiles managing the lab and correcting defects.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure maintenance of plant machinery particularly crucial equipment like kilns presses and automated transport systems.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce rigorous safety regulations (HSE) and environmental standards including dust control and material safety.
- Efficiency & Cost Control: Drive continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. Lean Six Sigma) to minimize waste (raw materials/energy) and reduce production costs.
- Leadership: Hire train and mentor staff including shift supervisors and production workers while fostering a positive safe culture.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Experience: Proven experience as a plant manager preferably in ceramic construction or high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of kiln firing processes material science (clays/glazes) and automated manufacturing lines.
- Leadership: Strong decision-making conflict resolution and team-building skills.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering Business Management or related field is often preferred.
Typical Daily Activities- Conducting floor walkthroughs to inspect quality and workflow.
- Reviewing production and QC reports.
- Meeting with supervisors to align on production goals and resolve equipment issues.
Salary: Negoatiable $100-150k
