Role Overview
The Director of Internal Operations will architect and lead the companys internal infrastructurespanning systems processes compliance and performance management. This role requires a hands-on operator who can both build and execute bringing structure to a rapidly scaling multi-state environment. You will work cross-functionally to implement core systems optimize workflows and establish measurable operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead ERP selection implementation configuration and company-wide rollout; manage integrations with CRM scheduling payroll and field tools
Design and optimize end-to-end operational workflows (sales-to-install procurement dispatch inventory invoicing warranty and returns)
Build and oversee a comprehensive risk management program including insurance coverage claims management and subcontractor compliance
Ensure regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions (licensing permitting OSHA tax filings and local requirements)
Own HR systems and infrastructure (HCM/ATS payroll integrations benefits administration and employee lifecycle processes)
Establish and manage field operations systems including scheduling job tracking time capture and technician onboarding/certifications
Develop and maintain performance metrics and dashboards across operations safety finance and customer experience
Recruit lead and develop an internal operations team while managing external vendors and consultants
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on scalability cost efficiency quality and customer satisfaction
Implement business continuity and disaster recovery planning for critical systems and operations
Success Metrics (KPIs)
Successful ERP implementation with strong company-wide adoption
Improved scheduling adherence and on-time project completion rates
Reduction in insurance claims frequency and cost
Improved hiring speed and onboarding completion for field roles
High inventory accuracy and reduced shrinkage
Measurable improvements in customer satisfaction (e.g. NPS)
Executive-level visibility through consistent data-driven operational reporting
Required Qualifications
8 years of operational leadership experience including 3 years at a Director level or equivalent
Background in field-based services construction or large-scale installation operations
Proven success leading ERP implementations end-to-end (Odoo experience preferred)
Strong experience with multi-state risk management insurance programs and compliance
Expertise in HR systems payroll integration and employment regulations
Demonstrated ability to design and scale processes in distributed workforce environments
Strong analytical and data-driven mindset; experience with BI tools Excel or SQL
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills including executive-level presentations
Willingness and ability to travel as needed
Preferred Experience
Experience in cabinetry millwork finish carpentry remodeling or related trades
Background scaling operations in a high-growth or startup environment
Hands-on familiarity with ERP platforms (especially Odoo) and workforce management systems
Professional certifications in risk management (CIC) or HR (SHRM-SCP SPHR)
