- Purpose
- The purpose of the job description is to establish and define the authority accountability reporting relationships responsibilities duties and measures of performance of the CNC Operator Level I of LMT Defense.
- Basic Function
- The function of the CNC Operator Level I is to operate and adjust CNC Mill and Lathe tools to perform standard and repetitive sequences of operations where programs are provided and setups are made and maintain by others.
- Reporting Relationships
- The CNC Operator Level I reports to the Production Shift Supervisor assigned to his/her area.
- Job Requirements
- To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to complete all areas outlined for this position in a satisfactory manner. - Education
- Required: High School/GED diploma or vocational school equivalent
- Preferred: Trade Certification
- Experience
- Preferred: Machining experience or machining certification from an accredited trade school.
- Skills Knowledge Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and mechanical devices
- Basic knowledge of machining processes (drilling milling turning)
- Capability to use precision measuring devices micrometers calipers height stands
- Competence to measure to .001
- Ability to quickly learn how to make adjustments to tool offsets to correct feature discrepancies
- A basic understanding of cutting tools with some experience to judge if they need changed
- Experience with Mazak machines a plus willingness to learn M and G code programming also
- Possess strong attention to detail and communication skills
- Must be able to follow written instructions from Work Instruction Sheets
- Strong blueprint reading skills is required with ability to check parts for conformance
- Must be able to sign and abide by Companys employee manual and confidentiality agreement
- Required to successfully complete a background check job physical and drug screening
- Must be able to work well with others that may be offering assistanc

- Operate CNC Machine centers to produce machined parts.
- Maintain quality and safety standards. Performing self-inspection of parts to ensure specs and following NRB process when parts are not to specifications.
- Adhering to quality assurance standards.
- Keeping accurate records by documenting and communicating actions irregularities and continuing needs. Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Maintaining maintenance and repairs of the machines as well as other equipment and supplies. Following manufacturers instructions troubleshooting malfunctions and calling for repairs.
- Verifies settings and communicate with Supervisor when adjustments are made
- Updates job knowledge by voluntarily participating in educational opportunities.
- Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Keep workstation and equipment clean to include 5S daily and weekly duties verified by signing off cleaning schedule
- Train other CNC Level I machinist on various jobs or assist other operators with repairs or Replacement work if necessary.

- Measures of Performance
- The CNC Operator Level I of LMT Defense shall be deemed to be performing in an acceptable manner when the following have been accomplished:
- All of the above skills knowledge and abilities have been retained and demonstrated.
- All of the above duties and responsibilities have retained and demonstrated.
- Completes all jobs on time with rates at 90% or above and material scrap is at or below 3%.
