Overview
We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects in the Bakersfield region. This role is ideal for candidates looking to build their career in heavy civil and process/mechanical construction while working alongside experienced project managers and field teams.
The Project Engineer will play a key role in coordinating project documentation supporting cost and schedule tracking and ensuring smooth communication between the office and field.

Must-Have Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in construction preferably in water/wastewater civil or industrial projects
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and tracking
- Basic understanding of construction processes drawings and specifications
- Experience supporting:
- Submittals and RFIs
- Project documentation and reporting
- Scheduling and coordination efforts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with field teams subcontractors and internal staff
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Construction Management or related field
- Internship or prior experience with a general contractor or subcontractor
- Exposure to water/wastewater treatment plant construction or similar infrastructure
- Familiarity with project management software (Procore Primavera P6 Bluebeam etc.)
- EIT certification or progress toward PE license
Key Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers and Superintendents in the execution of construction projects
- Assist with preparation and tracking of:
- Submittals
- RFIs
- Change orders
- Meeting minutes and reports
- Maintain organized and accurate project documentation
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and information
- Track project progress quantities and productivity data
- Assist with cost tracking budgeting support and forecasting updates
- Review drawings and specifications to support field execution
- Help ensure compliance with project requirements safety standards and quality expectations
- Participate in project meetings and provide clear timely follow-ups
- Support procurement activities and material tracking
Work Environment
- Primarily based in Bakersfield CA with regular visits to local project sites
- Collaborative environment working closely with project managers superintendents and field crews
- Minimal travel required compared to regional or federal project roles
