Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architecture policy and strategy technology development warfighter capability enablers systems integration defense industrial base and threat reduction to help shape existing and future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers including the U.S. Space Force U.S. Space Command Air Force Materiel Command and senior leadership at the Pentagon but also provides a broad range of technical support across the national space enterprise maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers portfolios as well as horizontal matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. Additionally DSG provides deep technical expertise to the Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) in the conception design acquisition launch and operations of satellite launch vehicle ground control and range systems.

The Space Control Force Design Sr. Project Engineer in the Space Control Division of the Space Security and Defense Program (SSDP) will support the division by leading managing performing and analyzing projects that may span across multiple programs customers and/or agencies to provide recommendations for a space control mission area end-to-end force design architecture. The Sr. PE examines threats technology trends customer strategies; identifies analyzes risk and proposes mitigations at the architecture program project interface or operational level. This role will also include recommending analyzing and assessing future concepts options and outcomes via modeling simulation test experimentation exercises or actual employment.

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time on-site at our facility in Colorado Springs Colorado.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Work directly with government customers to define the future Space Control Force Design and identify recommended performance parameters at the mission and system level
  • Support government development and demonstration of capabilities and payloads that advance the state of the art in Space Control systems from concept through prototyping acquisition testing and into operations
  • Work closely with members of a diverse team of military government civilians SE&I contractors FFRDCs and National Laboratories
  • Leverage Aerospace corporate expertise from the Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) and Project West Wing (PWW) to provide technical support across the full array of space systems engineering disciplines
  • Direct interaction with various organizations including US Space Force (USSF) Space Warfare Analysis Center (SWAC) 3rd Test & Evaluation Squadron (3TES) Space Systems Center (SSC) US Space Command (USSC) and the subordinate Space Operations Squadrons (SOPS) the Intelligence Community and other Combatant Commands

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements Senior Project Engineer - Engineering Program Management and Systems Engineering :

  • Bachelors degree in an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
  • 12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience including multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environments
  • Exhibits exceptionally high level of innovation creativeness and initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
  • Demonstrated success in organizing and leading cross-functional cross-organizational teams to execute studies and assessments and generate quality products
  • Willing to travel domestically approx. 10% (as required)
  • This position requires a current TS/SCI security clearance with SAP eligibility which is issued by the US Government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Current knowledge of Space Control system technologies capabilities acquisition and an understanding of space and ground systems development.
  • Extensive experience in architecture design acquisition test integration and/or operation of space systems
  • Experience working closely with key Aerospacecustomer agenciesin the defense and intelligence community including strong knowledge of their domainand strong professional networks
  • Demonstrated success in directly interfacing with senior government leadership of varying backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly dynamic work environment with a mix of government FFRDC and SETA personnel

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education experience knowledge and skills.
