    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    Required:

    • Bachelors Degree in Information Technology Computer Science or a related field.
    • Seven years of experience in IT operations with at least
    • Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
    • Previous experience in a K-12 or higher education environment is highly preferred.

    Preferred:

    • Masters Degree in a technical or management field.
    • ITIL Foundation (Information Technology Infrastructure Library).
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) or CAPM.
    • Technical tracks: CCNP (Cisco) MCSE (Microsoft) or CISSP (Security).

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Director of Information Technology is responsible for the day-to-day operations and tactical execution of the Districts technology services. This role bridges the gap between the CIOs high-level strategy and the technical implementation performed by IT staff. The Director ensures that the network server infrastructure end-user devices and software systems are reliable secure and optimized to support the Districts educational mission and adherence to district policies.

    Essential Functions:

    Operational Management & Execution

    • Translate the CIOs multi-year Strategic Technology Plan into actionable projects and daily operational tasks.
    • Oversee the design installation and maintenance of the Districts local and wide-area networks (LAN/WAN).
    • Manage the lifecycle of all hardware including servers storage switches wireless systems AV systems classroom technology and 1:1 student devices.
    • Ensure 99.9% uptime for critical systems including core network systems the Student Information System (SIS) Email Learning Management Systems (LMS) Financial Systems Emergency Management Systems and IAM systems.
    • Create and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure high-quality documentation for all district systems.
    • Lead the districts software review and approval process and reporting.

    Team Leadership & Supervision

    • Directly supervise and evaluate technical team leads (Networking Systems Technology Services).
    • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure timely support for teachers and staff.
    • Coordinate professional development and technical training for IT staff to keep pace with evolving technologies and best practices.

    Systems Integration & Security Implementation

    • Work closely with the CIO to implement cybersecurity protocols including firewalls endpoint protection and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
    • Coordinate the technical integration between disparate systems (e.g. syncing SIS data with Clever Google Classroom and Library systems).
    • Manage the Districts cloud footprint and on-premise data center operations.

    Project & Vendor Management

    • Serve as the primary Project Manager for large-scale deployments (e.g. district-wide Wi-Fi refresh or laptop rollouts).
    • Manage technical relationships with vendors and service providers ensuring contract compliance and high-quality technical support.
    • Assist the CIO in the technical evaluation of new software and hardware through formal RFP (Request for Proposal) processes.

    Budgetary & Regulatory Support

    • Monitor operational expenditures (Opex) to ensure the department remains within the annual budget.
    • Assist with forecasting future needs and developing budget estimates for replacement cycles.
    • Provide technical documentation and inventory data required for E-Rate filing and state/federal audits.
    • Ensure all technical configurations comply with CIPA (Childrens Internet Protection Act) filtering requirements.

    Physical Requirements & Work Environment

    • Ability to work in server room environments (cooler temperatures moderate noise).
    • Occasional lifting of hardware (up to 50 lbs).
    • Must be available for on-call escalations during critical system failures or high-stakes testing windows.
