The Wind Systems Validation (International team) is seeking a Lead Validation Performance Engineer to support the field testing and validation of both onshore and offshore wind turbines including certification design validation and risk mitigation.In this role you will lead wind turbine power performance measurements conduct site assessments in line with IEC standards and oversee the installation and validation of wind measurement systems (e.g. ground and nacelle LiDAR met masts). You will also verify system performance at the different phases of the validation process and contribute to the planning and execution of validation campaigns in general.
Job Description
Essential responsibilities:
Conduct measurements of power performance verification of the system operation & performance thermal measurement on prototypes test turbines and components.
Conduct the data analysis and present the results to internal stakeholders.
Travel to global test site locations to install monitor troubleshoot data systems.
Organization and procurement of test equipment selection of vendor communication and negotiations with vendor and external institutes.
Own the budget for test campaign execution.
Self-execute or coordinate with third parties field testing to acquire quality test data for use in the design validation and certification of onshore and offshore wind turbines.
Perform testing on turbines in the field to support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and GE Services requirements.
Manage contracts with independent test institutes to ensure high-quality test data and reports are received in timely fashion.
Reporting and communication to certification bodies.
Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of test deliverables.
Promote the importance of validation within the engineering team enhancing test data usage and validation practices across the organization.
Ensure data quality to enable early risk mitigation and facilitate rapid testing response.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of standard work processes for test planning execution and data evaluation
Qualifications / Essential Requirement
Bachelor or above degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience in data analysis and software Python Matlab FAMOS or comparable.
Proven experience in machine testing and validation.
Knowledge of Strain Pressure Temperature and displacement measuring systems is required.
Willing to climb wind turbines
Availability to travel 20% of the time.
Ability to work effectively in a global team collaborating across cultural boundaries and with team members in different countries.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects and working with third-party contractors.
Comprehensive experience in measurement systems (IMC or comparable).
Hands on skills in using test equipment both electrical and mechanical.
Basic Wind turbine system knowledge.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills in English; Spanish and German are a plus.
Driver license Class B.
