About the Position
We are looking for a high-impact individual who can play a dynamic role in owning aspects of the operational accounting technical accounting financial reporting and treasury functions for our SMB fintech. The Accountant will be a critical enabler of the Companys growth driving efficiency across the Companys accounting processes which will enable us to report accurate and complete financial data to our stakeholders in a timely manner as we continue to scale and grow in complexity. Were not only responsible for maintaining accurate books and records for financial reporting but were also passionate about automation and partner closely with the engineering team to automate all aspects of our reporting pipelines.
As the Accountant you will be exposed to a variety of areas including but not limited to our lending business credit card and deposit account products orchestrating cash movements account reconciliations developing technical accounting policies designing financial controls optimizing our month-end close and financial reporting processes and more. As an Accountant you will work cross-functionally within a fast-paced and fluid environment where creative problem-solving is highly valued. An Accountant is expected to manage multiple priorities concurrently without compromising quality.

What Youll Be Doing:
Help manage projects that improve processes and reporting for the Accounting function including the enablement of automated journal entries and data enablement for subledger to ledger account reconciliations
Take part in developing documenting and executing key policy documents and internal controls related to accounting processes and procedures.
Oversee and prepare certain day-to-day accounting processes for Parafin and its subsidiaries
Drive process improvement through automation initiatives: develop a plan clearly communicate project goals resource needs and business outcomes including partnering with engineering to design and implement technological solutions for process automation
Own parts of the month-end close including journal entries account reconciliations and variance analytics
Own preparation of the monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting package
Perform technical accounting research
Support external audit tax compliance and miscellaneous reporting requirements from investors and stakeholders
Collaborate with the Accounting team members on general accounting matters and ad hoc projects
Oversee our outsourced bookkeeping team and identify incremental opportunities
What Were Searching For:
Someone excited about pushing the boundaries of what an accountant is.
Demonstrated ability to leverage modern tools including AI-powered technologies (like Claude) to drive efficient scalable solutions and enhance decision-making in accounting operations.
The desire to improve processes and make your own job easier over time taking ownership of all aspects of your projects independently.
You have intellectual curiosity and a growth mindset; you ask questions and dont just accept the first answer; you actively seek to understand the why behind every number and process.
Foundational understanding of US GAAP - specifically as it relates to lending and technology companies.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and nontechnical partners.
Proven business analysis skills and experience working on complex projects with an excellent attention to detail.
You care deeply about the quality and correctness of your work and take feedback as an opportunity to make it even better.
You thrive in ambiguity while staying organized. You ask questions and absorb answers but when theres no playbook you dont wait you build one.

We Prefer If You Have:
Internship or co-op experience in accounting or a fintech/startup environment
Experience working in a high-growth organization on a scaling team
Exposure to accounting software (NetSuite or similar enterprise ERP) through coursework internships or personal projects.
Strong academic record in Accounting coursework
Experience working with data beyond excel where you queried data wrote a script or used an AI tool shows youre not afraid to get technical.
Fluency in (or willingness to learn) data analysis skills and tools such as SQL / Python / Looker as these skills will further enable independent work
