Role Overview

Performs accounting activities relating to Company investments including fixed income securities fund investments and stocks and the preparation of associated managerial reports and financial statements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compile and analyze financial information related to the Companys investments in order to prepare and post entries to accounts such as general ledger accounts and document business transactions
  • Perform general ledger duties to assist with monthly activity and closings
  • Analyze basic monthly balance sheet reconciliations and prepare monthly reconciliation of long-term investments reports from a third-party accounting service provider/vendor
  • Coordinate with outside vendors to correct issues and problems that arise during monthly processing
  • Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations for investments bank accounts
  • Proactively detect research and resolve reconciliation items
  • Analyze and document variances in account balances between periods
  • Prepare various schedules required for quarterly and annual statutory reporting under NAIC standards
  • Assist in providing data requested by internal and external auditors
  • Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by managers

What You Bring

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field required

Certifications

  • CPA designation preferred

Experience

  • 2 years of relevant and progressive professional experience in Accounting and/or Finance

Additional Qualifications

  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ability to apply accounting principles practices and procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on confidentiality tact and diplomacy
  • Advanced organizational and analytical skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of industry changes legal updates and technical developments
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word)

Travel

  • Occasional travel (up to 10% of time)
